Historia
East Antarctica: the coldest, most desolate location on earth. Two-and-a-half miles below the ice cap is Vostok, a 6,000 square mile liquid lake, over 1,000 feet deep, left untouched for more than 15 million years. Now, marine biologist Zachary Wallace and two other scientists aboard a submersible tethered to a laser will journey 13,000 feet beneath the ice into this unexplored realm to discover Mesozoic life-forms long believed extinct - and an object of immense power responsible for the evolution of modern man.

Disappointing Follow Up
Revisado: 03-21-21
I loved The Loch. With my fascination with and fear of water creatures, that book pushed all the right buttons to keep me invested. The first portion of this book did much the same, but at the halfway Mark things went off the rails. For those seeking another monster romp with a healthy dose of Criton-esque science and fiction line blurring, look elsewhere. The latter part of this book feels like another story entirely, one more in line with an L Ron Hubbard novel than science based creature novel. The transition makes the whole experience disjointed. Perhaps if the book had stuck to one of the two genres at play, things would have been better.

An Enjoyable Start
Revisado: 12-15-20
I’m definitely a Johnny-come-lately to this series, and like many the size and scope of the series has kept me away. But now that I’m finally starting on this journey, I’m glad I set out. The story is very comfortable fantasy, and the first book at least is very much in the vein of a Tolkien style tale. That’s not to say it’s derivative. Rather this first book feels like it makes great use of its inspiration as a jumping off point and creates a modernized presentation of a realm with as much history and life as Middle Earth.
The performances are great from both readers and help to add an extra bit of life to things. Definitely looking forward to continuing the series.

Wonderful Performance and Great Variety
Revisado: 12-02-20
I will be the first to admit that I have a story appearing in this collection and may be somewhat biased. However, I think I can objectively say that Simon de Deney’s performance here is an absolute delight and that he really brings these tales to life. There is a great variety of work here from many wonderful authors. This one would definitely be worth your credit if you’re a lover of deep woods, rural horror.
