The tale is engaging

It’s a fantasy and like so many others of this genre, it appears to go on and on so it’s true to form. I will only say that reality trumps fantasy. Ukraine/Russia, Gaza/Israel…
War. I’m a veteran of the Vietnam war and listening to this has become an unwanted distraction.
Reality requires our fullest attention. This is serious business.

It’s formulaic

I don’t pretend to be a writer, still this story follows such a predictable pattern, chapter after chapter; the reliance on fight events and gore, duplicity and corruption, heroic action beyond reasonable expectations…it sometimes feels like a computer game.
The storyline or plot is okay for a fantasy story but there’s too much formulaic fluff.
The narrators are first class though.
