Historia
Reframing aging as "a passage of discovery and engagement", Palmer says, "Old is just another word for nothing left to lose, a time to take bigger risks on behalf of the common good." On the Brink of Everything is not a "guide to" or "handbook for" getting old. Instead, it's Palmer turning the prism of insight on his experience as a way of encouraging listeners to do the same with theirs. In elegant prose and lyrical poetry, he offers a set of meditations on the meanings of one's life - past, present, and future.

Timely

As I turn 53 the words of Parker Palmer are like a guide. A beautiful invitation to be present, embrace mortality and discover one’s true self. A timely read indeed. Thanks Parker!

Historia
New Seeds of Comtemplation is one of Thomas Merton's most widely read and best loved books. Christians and non-Christians alike have joined in praising it as a notable successor in the meditative tradition of St. John of the Cross, the Cloud of Unknowing, and the medieval mystics, while others have compared Merton's reflections to those of Thoreau.

Merton holds know punches. In a very real way brings out the gifts, challenges and journey of Contemplation. This is a must read for anyone considering a life directed by Contemplation. This is a book I'll read many more times throughout my life.
