Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Revisado: 10-17-24
She is not a narrator. She speaks too quickly, she doesn't give her own narrative weight. Damn shame. The story is brilliant

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Fantastic story, inconsistent narration
Revisado: 11-29-17
Sanderson wrote an amazing book, Kramer and Reading both have odd corners of their performances, though; different pronunciations of common names between the two, weird opposite gender voices. not terrible but a little weird. Otherwise fantastic.

Immature Writing
Revisado: 11-04-15
Inexpertly researched, "sight-only" description, clumsy characterization, rushed plot and a weak premise, coupled with modern sensibilities smeared over 20th century scenes and dialogue that makes characters indistinguishable from each other. I wanted so badly to love this book, but bad writing ruined it in only six chapters.

The music and narrator weren't
Revisado: 09-09-15
what I was hoping for. The narrator was decent, but a female voice might have been better. The quality of the recording was pretty mediocre.
The music was utterly inappropriate and annoying.
Otherwise Sabrial is an amazing story. I just wish it was better preformed.

Historia
The Little House books, which chronicled the pioneer adventures of Laura Ingalls Wilder, are among the most beloved books in the American literary canon. Lesser known is the secret, concealed for decades, of how they came to be. Now, best-selling author Susan Wittig Albert reimagines the fascinating story of Laura's daughter, Rose Wilder Lane, an intrepid world traveler and writer who returned to her parents' Ozark farm, Rocky Ridge, in 1928.

A Great Insight Into Freelance Writing
Revisado: 08-28-15
I found this book utterly fascinating. I was never a huge Laura Ingles Wilder fan as a child, but I'm now in love with Rose Wilder Lane. She was a pioneer for writing women everywhere.
Mary Robinette Kowal is a fantastic narrator. She recommend this book on a podcast she contributes to, "Writing Excuses," and it was every bit as amazing as she said it was. Her southern accent is done just right. She never overplays the part, and she keeps her voice from varying in volume, (greatly appreciated for those of us listening with headphones).
The story was well written, with a very contemplative climax, and a real sense of the struggles freelance writers face. Ms. Albert has a mastery of prose, a deft hand with detail, and raises the everyday drama of the 'dirty 30's' with subtle grace that most historical fiction writers lack.
This may not be a great book for people looking for dramatized reenactments. This is an outstanding book for for any kind of writer though.

Historia
When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early 40s, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it at first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the town's council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

Exceptional, Profound, Addictive
Revisado: 08-16-15
This was the best book I have ever read. Every character has a complete arc, a foil, and the plot is wonderfully intricate and startling. This book occupies my thoughts, and feels so real, I swear I'd just come out of Pagford.
It is Rowling's masterpiece.

A bit mumbled
Revisado: 06-18-15
The story is fantastic but the narrator has a very low voice and his words sometimes become hard to catch. I had to listen to this book at higher volumes than normal to catch what was being said. Still, the performance wasn't bad, just quiet. There were unusually long pauses between sections that had me checking my app to make sure it was still running.
Take this as a review of the narrator. The story itself was very exciting and action-packed.

Even Better Than the First
Revisado: 04-29-15
Sanderson has written a book that pushed the limits of printing presses, but you wouldn't know by listening to this audiobook. The story positively flies by in this colorful, action-packed continuation of the Stormlight Archives. This is a new kind of epic fantasy, and while it's on just as big a scale, there is nothing sluggish about this story.

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.
