Historia
Thirty-one-year-old matchmaker Lola James had it all – until she broke her leg at a wedding and discovered that her so-called ‘best friend’ was suddenly too busy to call, her flat had far too many steps, and her boyfriend replaced her quicker than you can say ‘crutches’. And so she’s back at her parents’ B&B, sleeping in the living room (she can’t get upstairs) and having her hair washed by her mum (she can’t get in the shower). Freshly single and with a lot of time on her hands, Lola is only too pleased to run into gorgeous Dr Will. And then there’s Dean.

Lovely LOL Rom Com💕
Revisado: 06-13-24
I love this author's feel good, funny romances and the narrator has really grown on me (she always does a great job on multiple voices...but the MC voice sounded affected to me in earlier books). Many laugh out loud moments AND some really touching reflections on the importance of family and true friends...

It was a day like any other day for Marina Trahan…until she caught her husband in bed with another woman. Before that eye-opening wake-up call, Marina would have described her life as average or uneventful, maybe even boring. But now, chaos and confusion reign supreme.

Fun Fun Fun...and really wonderful characters!
Revisado: 05-19-24
Jana Deleon stories are my go to books when I need to relax and laugh out loud, with smiles in between. What I really love are the characters she creates that you care about...and that somehow prompt self - reflection in the middle of some zany story line. Can't wait to see more stories in this collection.

Historia
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules...with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos "pretending" to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.

I am on Chapter Five and had to stop and share...
Revisado: 05-14-23
...how happy I already am that I found this story....it has made my heart hurt a little with tenderness and made me laugh out loud. The characters I have met so far are clearly distinct personalities in my mind so far...because of the author's skill and the talents of the performer.
I'll be back to add to this review when I finish, though I am already sure I will be sad to say goodbye to these characters.

Lovely story with quirky characters...
Revisado: 12-20-22
Characters I missed as soon as the story ended. Perhaps a predictable story line but not really because of how well you come to know the main characters due to both the author and the wonderful narration. I look forward to reading everything Jackie Fraser writes in the future.

A story filled with HEART(s).
Revisado: 09-24-22
Imperfect characters, not always making the best choices, but ultimately driven by love and motivated by kindness. Definitely a "made me laugh, made me cry" story filled with many characters I can imagine meeting in real life, characters brought to life by the author's wonderful story telling paired with a talented narrator.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

the 'penny dropped' and I found the perfect listen. Wonderful characters that come alive through the author's writing and the readers' performances. The story is filled with so many people I'd love to meet...
I was looking for a gentle, quirky, reflection filled tale and this was even better than I hoped for ...a 'remarkable' debut novel...I only wish there was already more to read from this author.

I have listened to hundreds of books on Audible and written only a handful of reviews ...This story is WAY underated!!

Most likely because of my own frame of mind....the gaslighting storyline overwhelmed the others for me and I literally skipped forward to the Epilogue about Chapter 70.

Never got past 'the voice' in Chapter 1
Revisado: 07-24-20
Books 1and 2 of Lauren Layne's Oxford series had been just the fun I wanted in audio books...*and* I really liked the Lincoln character and was ready to learn his story... so I didn't even read the reviews, or even listen to the preview.
Shame on me. THE most disturbing narration of an audio book I have heard... And I have listened to over 300 from almost every genre. "Robotic" and "Siri" are in the reviews if I had taken even a second to look. I stopped and immediately went to the Kindle version.

But when one of the house guests is murdered, her brother-in-law asks her to aid the insufferable Sebastian Gage - a fellow guest with some experience as an inquiry agent. Fun mystery, Odd narration
Revisado: 06-10-19
I enjoyed the mystery story enough to listen to the end (it was worth it!). I will admit to a bias for consistently strong, independent heroines, and the shifts to ditheriness were less than credible for the character already established. They seemed to be included only to induce doubts in the reader/ listener that the heroine would make choices that made sense.
The narrator has a lovely speaking voice, wonderful diction and pronunciation and the pacing was perfect. My 'however' : I found the narrator's style of frequently, "reading without looking ahead to where proper breaks and emphasis should go," TOO annoying to allow me to purchase any other Audio books by the author. These odd errors YANK you out of the story, reminding you that you are listening to an audio book... All the audio books I see in this series use the same narrator, sigh. I thought I'd found some fun summer 'enjoyable mystery, light romance" listening...
I'll admit, I may try one more in hopes that this odd narration disappears.
