Adventuring romp with weirdos.
Revisado: 10-05-23
Attemped Vampirism's title sounds murder mystery but is in fact a fun adventuring romp. I only have one complaint and its that "words" sound like a game mechanic instead of a natural part of the world but o really do love the characters and their portrayal here. The narrorator bless him does a great job and the one twist in the first book I probably should have seen coming but was pleasantly surprised when it occurred. Seriously five blood filled goblets out of five!

Historia
With only one bastion still standing on the once unconquerable fortress world of Aranua, Warboss Gazrot Goresnappa should be basking in the light of impending victory. Instead, he lies ‘proppa dead’ beneath a decapitated Gargant’s head. The biggest and baddest bosses from each of the six (no-longer-united) clans step forward to duke it out to become the next warboss – but the ork gods have other plans. A prophecy foretells of a mysterious gate that lies beneath the human city. The one true warboss will be the first to find it, and will use it to turn the galaxy green.

So much fun you bring the runts.
Revisado: 04-07-23
Three big bosses set out on a quest to become the next warboss and they each attempt to in their own orky way. Like other ork books you have a roaring good time giving others a good kick with some slapstick to keep things interesting. Unlike other ork books the focus mostly stays where it should (with da ladz) with just enough support from the outside and best of all there ain't no mucking about. These orks get stuff done.
The reader is fun, varies up the orks so you know who's who and overall it was just a good listen that kept me entertained.

Hits N Misses
Revisado: 11-07-22
The narrator clearly says certain words wrong "sumo" and its not just once but a smattering throughout the book. Some stories are really strong, some strong but far too short and sadly most of the short stories are found wanting due to their length. Stories 1-3 great, 9-10/10 but man after that its down hill. (For the record I do not care for the dragon clan but loved em here) I also don't think that Fantasy Flight is doing L5R any favors by gutting previous edition lore but thats just me.

Good performers for the characters and a fun Cain novel. Warhammer 40k at its funnest and least grim dark.

Historia
Aric, a half-elf with a rare natural ability with the psionic discipline known as "the Way", must find his place in a world ruled by the tyranny of evil sorcerer kings, and dominated by the savage wilds of the Athasian desert, a world presided over by the unrelenting crimson eye of Dark Sun. When Aric is brought into a quest to search for a priceless trove of weapons, he would rather keep his head down and live a simple life. But nothing is simple in the city of Nibenay with its reclusive ruler known as the Shadow King. And in a world where metal is the rarest of commodities, Aric’s "way" with metal is an even rarer talent.

An OK introduction to Darksun
Revisado: 03-27-22
Overall the book is OK and if you don't mind that then pick it up. It introduces you to Athas and some interesting characters but seems to end abruptly. 7/10 if you want some Darksun give it a try otherwise maybe pass.

Historia
Exile to the miserable world of Sedh, the disgraced Necron Lord Oltyx is consumed with bitterness. Once heir to the throne of a dynasty, he now commands nothing but a dwindling garrison of warriors, in a never-ending struggle against Ork invaders. Oltyx can think of nothing but the prospect of vengeance against his betrayers, and the reclamation of his birthright. But the Orks are merely the harbingers of a truly unstoppable force. Unless Oltyx acts to save his dynasty, revenge will win him only ashes.

Interesting Start to the Machinations of Machines
Revisado: 02-25-22
I didn't think Necrons would be interesting but this book proved me wrong. From the simple disdain of life to H.R. Geiger levels of psychological trauma the Phareon face this worth the listen. Cudos to the reader for his acting. The pseudo religious bit might be a bit of a turn off but it sold his reading to me.

Six of Crows is a smaller but just as good Way of Kings. I'm not sure what to say about the book accept that it's good. The characters are interesting and the setting more so. Multiple readers help distinguish every one and bring them to life. I will come back and be listening to this again, which is more than I can say about most books.

Historia
Before Farideh took a devil's pact, before she was Chosen by the god-king of the Hells, before any of this started, there was Bryseis Kakistos, the original Brimstone Angel, first of Farideh's line. Now, at the end, there is also Bryseis Kakistos - but this time, instead of helping the king of the Hells achieve godhood, she's going to kill him. All she needs is a little help from Farideh - which she should, by all accounts, be happy to give. After all, who could object to killing the king of the Hells?
