If you've listened to the podcast, there isn't a whole lot worth listening to here, it's the same

"Religion bad! Religion stupid! Religion lie!"

"Don't have an open mind, open mind bad!"

"I've never heard about that, it must be fake!"

"My youth, my brother, my podcast partner, my anecdotal experience says this! Your experience, your beliefs, wrong, all wrong unless they conform to my perceived truths!"

Meh. There's a way to be a respectful & open-minded skeptic and there's a way to be abrasive, annoying, rude, intentionally confrontational, braggart, know-it-all skeptic... this title is for if you want to be in the latter camp.

Interesting ideas, going to have to listen to it a couple more times though to really digest the content, I'm sure listening at 1.5x didn't help though haha. The narrator is good too, feels natural with his delivery and is pleasant to listen to.

I love what Rob is doing with this series, it started out like your normal Red Dawn type story but takes an interesting turn towards the end of the first book, this second book dives deeper down the rabbit hole and and separates itself further from traditional military fiction. I love it! Add to that the fact this one is also narrated by Dawson, of Carolla fame, and mannnnn it's just a fun time!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I loved the first two books but this third one mostly goes another direction, it has a lot of deception and whining and feels like the author just got tired of writing in this universe.

What made the experience of listening to The Pact the most enjoyable?

If you were a fan of the short-lived television show Jericho, either of the Red Dawn movies or the Australian film Tomorrow When the War Began you will love this book. First in the series, Robert Patrick Lewis a former Special Forces Medic sets up for a very plausible future for America, a future where the fight has come to our doorstep.

The book quickly sets up for a foreign invasion of American soil and jumps right into guerrilla warfare from Special Forces members, harassing the occupying forces at every turn. I honestly couldn't 'put the book down' (well, my e-reader, I couldn't put my kindle down) and can't wait for the next installment in the series. Rob brings a realistic scenario from the point of view of a guy that was actually deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan while picking up the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, NATO non-article 5 medal, two Army Commendation Medals, Special Forces Tab, Combat Infantry Badge, Airborne wings, Iraq Campaign Medal with star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and many other ribbons in his time there. While Clancy could bring in technical consultants (as could similar authors) Rob was there, he saw urban warfare with his own eyes and has his experiences and those of his friends to draw on to make a believable series.

Dawson does a fantastic job narrating (I was hoping Rob would read it but Dawson did pretty awesome and I'm quite happy with that choice).

What other book might you compare The Pact to and why?

What made the experience of listening to Vatican Assassin the most enjoyable?

The first in an awesome Trilogy, Mike Luoma gives me hope that he will be remembered several decades from now as a popular science fiction author of our time.

Vatican Assasin stars Bernard Campion, an assasin for the New Catholic Church a century in the future. This book gets us going with some interplanetary war and an assasination order. This book sets the stage for an interesting literary world that develops nicely in the following 2 books of this trilogy then picks up later with BC's son in another series that can be found as e-books and comics. Originally released in audio format in a serial format for free by the author this brings the first book together in a re-recorded single book. While I already know the story well having listened to it for free via the podcast episodes, I happily purchased it to help support the author and to experience it once again in this new recording.

Where does Vatican Ambassador rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Alright first let me ask a question. Do you like Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke, Robinson, Niven, Hamilton? If you like any or all of those authors and their works, you'll like this series too. A great spacer trilogy that gives you a little of everything you'd want and at times makes you wonder if you are reading some lost work by Clarke, Asimov, or Heinlein but at the same time having a distinct flair that is Mike Luoma. Check this trilogy out, then read past it in the same world with the Alibi Jones stories.

Vatican Ambassador is book 2 in the trilogy and things really get going good. The Project, Lunar Prime, the classic fun of B.C. Well worth a read, or in this case a listen!

Would you listen to Happy, Happy, Happy again? Why?

Well it's a fantastic story, however I was hoping Phil was the reader. Phil does read the opening however that lasts but a few minutes then Al Robertson takes over the reading.

What did you love best about 14?

Wow. Just wow. Buy the book. Period. Peter Clines, write the prequel, fast, please.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Like I said. Wow. Just wow. I need the prequel. Normally I write long reviews but this book I can just say WOW.

Would you listen to Love Me When I'm Gone again? Why?

The author narrates it which I feel just adds to the richness of a title... you just get a better experience when the author reads it to you.

The book starts off how you'd expect, Rob gives you a brief rundown of his life leading up to his time in ODA 002. He then gives good accounts of some training experiences as well as some deployments. To say anymore would be to ruin the book, definiteily pick up a copy in your favorite medium!
