Usually I'm very picky with what I read and I end up disliking a lot of books due to them being so predictable or having overused ideas. This story has some comedy mixed with an adventure which left me wanting to listen more than I usually do with audiobooks. There were a few small times that I questioned why certain things were happening in the book's plot, but I was able to dismiss them and enjoy the book overall. I never re-listen to audio books, but I think I'll re-listen to this one sometime in the close future. Neil Gaiman did a amazing job narrating, as well.

Excellent narrators, odd book.

I did have to listen to this for school, but I love reading and listening to books in general and this was actually the most decent book to choose out of the lot. First of all, the extreme amount of unneeded cursing really aggravated me. It was like one of those movies you want to walk out of because its just so overdone and irritating. The book just seemed like a waste of time. If you want a TL;DR of this book, here it is: The protagonists are all just dwelling on the facts of how their lives are more horrible than each others and just keep making it worse even though they're trying to make it 'better'. It was like they were having a contest on who was the most pathetic one and whoever that was would be the 'coolest' of the bunch or something. The end was positive(??) ish but I feel disappointed for this book. I don't like to leave negative reviews, but I feel as if this one was needed for someone who didn't know how this book would be in the long run.

Historia
The stillbirth of Mackenzie's son destroyed her marriage. Grieving, Mac reluctantly heads for her childhood home to seek refuge with her mother, who constantly reminds her of life's dangers. Driving across Texas, Mac swerves to avoid hitting a deer... and winds up in a dead spot, a frightening place that lies between the worlds of the living and the dead. If they can control their imaginations, people can literally bring their dreams to life - but most are besieged by fears and nightmares which pursue them relentlessly.

Good concept for a story that is badly portrayed.

Good concept for a story that is badly portrayed.
Revisado: 10-13-15
The protagonist acts like a weak, daft character until she magically stops that after 3/4 of the book. I love the concept for this story but it did not accurately and efficiently seem any percentage believable: That characters seemed generic. I couldn't follow along with the protagonist's feelings because she had a gigantic problem mourning her son for a majority of the book and wouldn't act logical until around 11 hours in the audiobook. This book also felt very unbalanced. Her first two days were dragged out in large proportions, but her four days after that were quickly and very vaguely written. The ending seemed rushed. I wouldn't listen to this book again if I had the choice.
