Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

That was fun!
Revisado: 05-21-20
I had low expectations, but it's light tone and humour, combined with the Zelda references, made this story a delight! Now I'm going to dig out my old NES and go on a quest for the Tri-Force 🙂

Either the service industry in the small British village attracts many Australians, or the narrator struggles with British accents. Meh.

Too much swearing for me. Quite different from the tv show (Ferg is middle aged and married!), but still interesting.

Mrs. Hudson, this is your life!
Revisado: 08-21-17
The first half is nearly all Mrs Hudson back-story. The second is more familiar Russell/Holmes action. I very much enjoyed King's weaving of cannon Holmes case history into her own tale. It's cleverly done and quite satisfying.

Clever!
Revisado: 03-03-15
What other book might you compare Clockwork to and why?
This felt like a Neil Gaiman story. Like you though you knew what to expect, but what came was totally different and much better.
Which character – as performed by Anton Lesser – was your favorite?
The internal narrator. I love a good German accent.
Any additional comments?
Fantastic surprise! Excellent narration makes it particularly gripping. Lesser's use of pace and volume is genius.

Mildly Diverting
Revisado: 03-03-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It's not a long book and it was a daily deal, so over all I'm ok with it. I wouldn't want to pay full price for it though.
What was most disappointing about J. R. Rain’s story?
The female character is irritating. Written to be strong and independent, she comes off as touchy, stubborn and hot-headed.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator's style reminded me of Jack Moyles in the old radio show "Rocky Jordan". I like that, but his low-key, unflappable style wouldn't be for everyone.
Could you see The Lost Ark being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
It almost feels like a tv movie is the endgame for this book. It doesn't take much to imagine the poor writing and bad special effects. How about Kevin Sorbo and Catherine Bell?

Exciting, but over priced.
Revisado: 08-16-13
Christian Rodska beautifully narrates another Hornblower, but as the story is incomplete (due to Forester's death) and only running about three hours long, $11.50 feels a bit over priced. Adding a short story about Hornblower as a signal Lieutenant on the Renown hardly takes away the sting. Worth it for a die hard Hornblower fan.
