Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Having entertained the idea for years, and even offered a few questionable opportunities ("It's a piece of cake! Just do four hours of interviews, find someone else to write it, put your face on the cover, and voila!") I have decided to tell these stories just as I have always done, in my own voice.

Incredible memoir of a true rock fan
Revisado: 10-24-21
This audiobook has instantly dropped itself into my favorites of all time and for good reason. Not only can Dave paint a beautiful picture of his recounts throughout his rise, but hearing HIM tell it to you?!
Aside from the obviousness of how great it is to have the opportunity to hear Dave Grohl tell you some insight on his mind, he truly does a wonderful job keeping the listener/reader involved. Few times do you get a autobiography or memoir that is as lean and driven as this is.
Definitely a recommend for anyone loves Dave for all that he has blessed us with in music, or for anyone who says "Hey. Isn't that that-guy from Nirvana?"

Such an amazingly woven tale
Revisado: 11-24-20
Matheson never seases to fail at keeping me wanting more. His stories may not be the goriest or "in-your-face" scary, but the way things are laid out in such a delicate balance gives you a great sense of unease throughout the whole run. This is definitely a book for the decades!

Peace seekers!!
Revisado: 10-07-20
INCREDIBLE! When this world starts heading towards actual peace and enlightenment, this book and Brian's research will be the foundation for the movement! Heard him talk about his book from the Joe Rogan Experience and immediately sought it out. Not only does he make a compelling hypothesis but his narrative skills are outstanding! If you're reading this to see if you should get this book, the answer is yes. When you finish it, share the damn thing! Let's make this information public knowledge!

Love this take on horror
Revisado: 02-06-20
If you came here from Perks of Being a Wallflower, then don't expect the same vibe. Chbosky's writing style is still at an all-time high with this one, but the gore is right up there with King and Barker. Brilliant new light on how to see your inner demons!

Historia
Four decades after it first shook the nation, then the world, William Peter Blatty's thrilling masterwork of faith and demonic possession returns in an even more powerful form. Raw and profane, shocking and blood-chilling, it remains a modern parable of good and evil and perhaps the most terrifying novel ever written.

Historia
Sarah and Patrick are happy. But after her mother's death, Sarah spirals into depression and overdoses on sleeping pills. While Sarah claims it was an accident, her teenage children aren't so sure. Patrick decides they all need a fresh start and he knows just the place, since the idyllic family home where he was raised has recently come up for sale. There's only one catch: for the past 15 years, it has become infamous as the "Murder House", standing empty after a family was stabbed to death within its walls.

Decent story, "eh" narrator
Revisado: 01-31-20
The story was a nice little web, in the mind of Agatha Christie with a modern paranormal twist. The narrator doing male voices was almost comical, however. I fully understand that being a performer for a novel is by no means an easy task, but it takes away from the story and made it VERY difficult to finish.

Revisado: 10-16-19
I highly suggest working your way up to this book if you haven't read any of Joe Hill's works before, mainly so you can appreciate the beauty of how well he has strengthened his style and comes truly to himself. Starting off with a wonderfully written homage to his parents (Stephen and Tabitha King), and ending with his little footnotes on each story, this collection will keep you wishing it didn't end. Well rounded development, spacious new worlds, and excellent performances keep this book high on my shelf! Joe Hill makes the future of horror novels lool vast and untouched!

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Like a call from an old friend with a new number!
Revisado: 09-17-19
There isn't one thing I can say about Steve King that hasn't been said over the span of almost 5 decades, but dammit this man can write! The Institue keeps you gripped with one beautifully woven web from the introduction of new characters in a fun world that I am sure will be mentioned in further works, to a climax that will echo for decades. The performance was well done. Not the best I've heard but certainly nothing to complain about.
Note: This isn't a horror novel, nor should it be classified under any trope. This is King coming out of a shell and moving into a realm that he has briefly touched the surface of (Bill Hodges Trilogy, Firestarter, The Outsider, etc). The style pulls from older works of his (amazing building, conspiracy) and mixes it up with the greatest hits of his newest legacy.
If you seriously have to look at the reviews for recommendation for this book, then obviously you need to work on updating your memory of what King is capable of doing...
