Historia
For young Peony, betrothed to a suitor she has never met, lyrics from The Peony Pavilion mirror her own longings. In the garden of the Chen Family Villa, amid the scent of ginger, green tea, and jasmine, a small theatrical troupe is performing scenes from this epic opera, a live spectacle few females have ever seen. Like the heroine in the drama, Peony is the cloistered daughter of a wealthy family, trapped like a good-luck cricket in a bamboo-and-lacquer cage.

Asphyxiating
Revisado: 03-22-18
Listening to this I felt trapped. I'm a fan of historical fiction so I'm used to reading (or listening) about foot binding and the life of women in the inner chambers.
Here however there is too much focus on the ugliness and the author attempts to frame it as a good thing. It doesn't help that the MC is unlikable and really, really, REALLY stupid!
In the second part of the story she lives her favorite opera and the book kept making promises to go in that direction but in the end it never did, It just rambled about this or that. All the while framing the MC's actions as correct and anyone that opposes her as vile and wicked.
The fact that it's ALWAYS the MC's fault is glossed over. The fact that she harmed others intentionally is totally fine, because she's the MC.
This is the one book from this author I didn't like. It tries so hard to be existential but ends up as rambly and full of ugliness.

Simply beautiful
Revisado: 12-15-17
Ghost bride is a journey into the spirit realm from the eyes of a young Malay.
There is a love story in there and solid characters however what steals the show is the setting. Full of ancient Chinese beliefs regarding the afterlife this is more of an Alice in wonderland tale.
It's written beautifully and although I usually avoid books narrated by the author I found this one to be very pleasant to listen to. There is a lot of love, care and effort put into this book and it shows. I really do wish to see more from this author, she is clearly a beautiful person.

Historia
These are the tales of Eternal Voyager. Tales from a distant future in which all life is virtual. Everyone in the Metaverse takes for granted the ability to teleport; to change shape; to create entire planets for their playgrounds and to make backup copies of themselves, so they cannot permanently die. And what do these people who live beyond the conventional universe do with their powers? Mostly they party.

A light listen
Revisado: 08-22-17
I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for my feedback. This review however is from me.
This is a collection of six novellas, Far into the future humans have uploaded themselves into a virtual world and are currently living a life of leisure.
The thing is the book starts off suddenly in that world as if it was already established which was a bit disorienting if you didn't read the blurb first (which I didn't but still...) Some tales are better then others however they are all entertaining and light.
The first tale is about people giving each other (kudos) and how that slowly morphed into a currency system that almost destroyed their utopia.
The second tale, they get an alien visitor and things got surreal for awhile.
The third tale, Vampires, pyramid schemes and plans of world domination!
The Fourth tale, An Adam, an Eve and a Judas.
The Fifth tale is a bit of a litrpg with dragons, elves and well... the works!
The Sixth one ends on a high note with none wish granting Genie and a big reveal at the end.
