Revisado: 11-23-24
The story is satisfyingly detailed and the details click together throughout to reveal a tale of love lost but not, love found, and delicious evil to conquer, set in a colorful and magical New York City, where we know all the magic is in the bookstores.

Melancholy and moving
Revisado: 07-30-24
A very moving story of aging, disappointment, and scattered happiness. As each new segment began, I had to give the story a rest, to settle my emotions.

Great romp of a story
Revisado: 03-23-24
Expect the usual fantasy detective story with a nice twist involving the President. Ron McLarty does not read women’s dialog at all well, pretty well destroying the equal nature of our protagonists’ relationship. I’m considering not listening to the rest of the serried and moving to print.

Good story & narration; annoying sound track
Revisado: 06-10-21
This is the third book you’ve undermined with annoying ‘music’ & thumping. The radio guys did it better 70 years ago. It’s enough to drive me away from your recordings. Please return to what you do best.

Disruptive and annoying “music” throughout. At its best, it sounds like funeral home music.

Don’t use this hokey music for other books. It is worse than unpleasant. I can’t believe you bragged about it in your promotion.

Inept pronunciation distracts from fine reading
Revisado: 09-10-17
Any additional comments?
This was a surprisingly good tale and a generally fine reading. Mispronunciation of Los Angeles streets and communnities is disappointing, distracting, and completely avoidable. Shame on the reader and producer and editor. Worst examples include Sepulveda Boulevard, La Cienega Boulevard, and La Cañada. These are not only familiar to anyone who has ever been to LA, but to most who have even seen a movie set there.

Historia
Historians have long told the story of America’s birth as the triumph of Jefferson’s democratic ideals over the aristocratic intentions of Hamilton. Chernow presents an entirely different man, whose legendary ambitions were motivated not merely by self-interest but by passionate patriotism and a stubborn will to build the foundations of American prosperity and power.

Ahh Time Travel
Revisado: 09-27-16
Connie Willis managed the time travel elements of this story with great skill and it was a bit like an Agatha Christie mystery. The description of St. Paul's and the war in England and London was exciting in itself. The plot moved along and the Chapter header quotes were moving. I recommend Blackout and All Clear to time travelers and historians.

Surprising
Revisado: 08-16-16
It was fun to get more character development for our flawed and courageous detectives. The story ended flamboyantly but with a surprising and less than totally satisfying villain. The story itself as engaging and ended with a cliff hanger. Hoping that there is another book in the aerie that resolves the immediate issue as well as the overarching mystery that plagues our protagonist.
