Historia
College student Joe Talbert has the modest goal of completing a writing assignment for an English class. His task is to interview a stranger and write a brief biography of the person. With deadlines looming, Joe heads to a nearby nursing home to find a willing subject. There he meets Carl Iverson, and soon nothing in Joe's life is ever the same. Carl is a dying Vietnam veteran-and a convicted murderer. With only a few months to live, he has been medically paroled to a nursing home after spending thirty years in prison for the crimes of rape and murder.

Historia
Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

Good story but beware
Revisado: 01-10-25
Some of the Reacher books are more gruesome than others. This one is high on my list. If you don't care to have descriptions of murder and torture spelled out for you, maybe skip this one.

Revisado: 01-05-23
This is fascinating stuff, and the author narrates beautifully. Someday I shall name a dog Puzzle (the star of this true story.) I've listened to this book, and her next two, countless times. It never gets old! Great family listening, fine for kids.

Historia
Maggie's latest case is an unidentified female in her early teens, discovered in a local cemetery. More shocking than the girl's injuries - for Maggie at least - is the fact that no one has reported her missing. She and the detectives assigned to the case (including her cop ex-husband) are determined to follow every lead, run down every scrap of evidence. But the monster they seek is watching every move, closer to them than they could possibly imagine.

Simply absurd
Revisado: 10-03-21
I really liked "Local Woman Missing" so I wanted to try another from that author. I don't know what she was thinking! I hate when women are written as hysterical and ridiculous! When you want to throttle the protagonist, it's not a good book. For about the last half of the book I simply hated her! I still want to slap her!

On paper, Chris Brennan looks perfect. He's applying for a job as a high school government teacher, he's ready to step in as an assistant baseball coach, and his references are impeccable. But everything about Chris Brennan is a lie. Susan Sematov is proud of her son Raz, a high school pitcher so athletically talented that he's being recruited for a full-ride scholarship to a Division I college, with a future in major-league baseball. But Raz’s father died only a few months ago, leaving her son in a vulnerable place where any new father figure might influence him for good, or evil.

Disappointed
Revisado: 06-02-19
The narrator speaks way too slowly and the book drags with a lot of indulgent introspection. There is no resolution to the situation, it is a “to be continued” with the next book in the series, but I couldn’t stick it out for another 11 hours and wound up returning the sequel.

An irritating experience
Revisado: 05-21-19
I hate this style of writing, full of women making idiotic choices constantly, and also rife with an arrogant sort of introspection. And it drives me insane to hear “I had no choice” when multiple options are obvious.
