Trista’s been on the run the last few years, always able to dodge the organization that is desperately trying to capture her until Jersey is assigned to hunt her down. Jersey, known as an Executioner, and his handler Memphis, known as a Judge, are assigned to capture Triss after the last few teams have failed. Being assigned to capture her is known as career ending within the organization but Jersey will do whatever it takes to get her.
The banter between all of them had me laughing and it made it even better being able to listen to them. The narrators were perfect (do we NJ people really sound like that? lmao) and I really hope she uses the same ones if she records book 2! Jersey and Memphis had great sibling energy with Jersey as an unhinged older brother and she is the little sister who puts him in his place. The chemistry between Jersey and Triss was a perfect amount of slow burn, good tension and the spice was 5/5. It’s been a while since I’ve had a book on a cliffhanger and I need to jump into book 2 asap!

Story played like a FanFic with sponsors

The FMC was so whiny/bratty and I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes every time they just had to name a song and artist several times throughout that it just felt like they were getting paid to drop names. I had to stop and returned this book with about 7 hours left because I was just basically forcing myself to listen at that point. MMC was great and the right kind of OOTP/Possessive but the FMC just killed it for me.
