Couldn’t stop listening! Great characters!
Revisado: 10-24-24
I loved the flow of this series. I enjoyed the layers of depth and growth each character possessed. It will be a series I will listen to many times. I also really appreciate the bonus material at the end. It not only provided more background, but it made me fall in love with them even more. I will also be sharing this book series.

Loved this book!
Revisado: 03-31-23
I listened to this story because I wanted to know more about sin eaters and maybe a story to help me understand my Scottish ancestors in the mountains in a time long ago. I could see the characters and feel the events happening. I love the characters for the writing is so good to show their personalities very clear. It has many twists and turns and kept me interested all the way through.

Historia
The final novel from a great American storyteller. Donal Cameron is being raised by his grandmother, the cook at the legendary Double W ranch in Ivan Doig's beloved Two Medicine Country of the Montana Rockies, a landscape that gives full rein to an 11-year-old's imagination. But when Gram has to have surgery for "female trouble" in the summer of 1951, all she can think to do is to ship Donal off to her sister in faraway Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

My heart will never forget these characters
Revisado: 03-17-23
I found myself cheering for these characters as well as choking up for their hard times. I couldn’t help putting myself in their shoes. I thoroughly enjoyed the story sometimes even at the edge of my seat, sometimes not wanting to know but unable to shut it off. It is worth listening to clear to the very end.

This book made me laugh and cry. Eliza wormed her way right into my heart. I will forever carry a bit of her spirit with me. I chose this book because it is a historical fiction about a woman and plants. I got more than what I was expecting.

Historia
The Thebes State Penal Farm in Mississippi is up a dark river, surrounded by swamps and impenetrable piney woods. It’s the Old South at its most brutal - a place of violence, racial terror, and even more horrific rumors. Of the few who make the journey, black or white, even fewer return.
But in that year, two men will come to Thebes. The first is Sam Vincent, the former prosecuting attorney of Polk County, Arkansas who, with great misgivings, accepts a job to investigate a disappearance.-

These characters are so real
Revisado: 11-04-22
To me the characters are so real and will stay with me. This book made me cry and cheer as well as fall in love. I could see and feel the events as well as be in the debtors prison and the grand grounds. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
