Exquisite, Extraordinary, & Epic
What did you like best about this story?
Linguistic richness employed by the author. There is an extraordinary attention to detail in order to give the words a full, resonant, rise and fall that tells a story within a story. Here is only one example of countless others: (quote)
"These 46 Thebans, whose bones will never lie in the mass grave that holds their 254 brothers, join with the immortalized Tempus and his Sacred Band of Stepsons, consummate ancient cavalry fighters, to make new lives in a faraway land and fight the battle of their dreams where gods walk the Earth, ghosts take the field, and the angry Fates demand their due. (end of quote)
Which scene was your favorite?
Nico was lead through marble halls. As if she'd seen a ghost, ageless, she seemed 30, but was far beyond 300! She had a voice full of seduction, always, but not today. Something was very wrong. "What is it, Nico?" What happened? As she came up close, he bowed his head to look into those gray eyes...
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No way, it's far too long.

The narrator, Chris Morris, captures the ethos, pathos and logos of the story as only one who is intimately familiar with the story could do. Outstanding vocal performance and an extraordinary epic story go well together. Highly recommended!

If you could sum up That Hoosiers Cap in three words, what would they be?
Emotional & Thought Provoking
What was one of the most memorable moments of That Hoosiers Cap?
When the father leaves his sons it creates the necessary inner and outer conflict in the story. From that point forward, everything else that follows is directly related to that pivotal moment. Will the boys overcome their abandonment, their sense of loss, shame and being alone without a father? Who will they turn to? Would the father get a second chance to redeem himself, or was everything lost when he left his sons, unable to tell them the truth about why he was leaving? The book held my attention and engaged me throughout, from beginning to end due to the tension and uncertainty the writer created here.
What does Ashton Zubal bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Ashton does a fantastic job on an extremely wide number of voices. He did not confine himself to a few voices, he did them all! His performance made the book literally come alive in my mind, as I could visualise what was taking place due to his energy and enthusiasm to give each character a separate and distinct voice. Again, his performance was outstanding, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone. Ashton is a dedicated professional.
Who was the most memorable character of That Hoosiers Cap and why?
For me, the protagonist that I found most engaging was the father. This plot is literally a rebirth, or a quest. The father must find himself, or the boys are doomed. He is on a journey to discover himself, the quest must include a return. If he has gained new insights about himself, good things will happen. Will he have an epiphany? If given an opportunity to be good again, will he be able to make use of the chance?

This is an excellent book. I would recommend that you get a copy of this book to read as well as listen along with the narrator. The recording is definitely stand alone, superbly done, high quality work. Congratulations to both Ashton and Dave on a very successful collaboration! Well done!

If you could sum up Tabby Cat Tales in three words, what would they be?
Beautiful Cat Story: Beautiful, as in it is the kind of story that shows us all that pets can enrich our lives across the entire spectrum of our lives, from childhood to adulthood and on to very advanced ages. Pets bring something special to their owners.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed the authorial decision to tell the story from the viewpoint, and voice, of the cat. This act of personalization helps the listener (reader) to come closer to the story and enjoy it more fully than if it were told in the voice of the people involved in the story.
What about Pilar Uribe’s performance did you like?
Pilar's performance was incredible. I had expected a Latin American, Spanish accent, since Pilar is a lovely Latin American name. After listening to the sample, I knew that I was wrong about Pilar's vocal range. She gave an enthusiastic performance, using her voice to add emotional content to the words that she was reading. You were able to feel the emotional response to the events in the cat's life. Joy, happiness, pain, lose, bewilderment, doubt, it was all there. A superb performance.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No, I wasn't moved to tears. What I did do was experience what it must have been like when the 3 legged cat is facing his death by shotgun at the hands of Grandfather. I had internally rationalised the logic of "putting down" (killing) a 3 legged cat, but the outcome when Grandfather came back made me happy, because it was completely unexpected for me.

Yes, I had read the book already, some time before, so I was curious how it would be as an audiobook. I must say that the project was a complete success. Pilar did an outstanding job as narrator. She is an incredible vocal talent, with an ability to create emotion and elicit a response from the listener. I would recommend her to anyone. The written story came alive in my mind as I listened to it, thanks to her enthusiasm throughout the book.
