Outstanding book about the love of God

Leif writes a book about the love of God, as demonstrated and practiced by Jesus and ministered to today's world through the teachings of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and of course by His followers. This is a must-read for every Christian in my opinion. No other writer that I have personally read is even close to the insight, anointing, understanding that this man has.

He speaks of how the Father's love is not understood, felt, by so many people, even those who are born again according to the Christian faith. And he speaks how this is needed and can be done, that God's love is there for everyone, how the Christian follower can have that for even his enemies...

Narration was outstanding; the reader spoke clearly, had compassion in his voice and emphasized important parts where they should be. The story was comprehensive, dealing with his baptism in the love of God to how we can love our enemies, plus more. Highly recommended...

A brief but good book on the importance of God's word

Derek focused on the importance of God's word, on reading it with intensity, reading it with a teachable heart, reading it without prejudice and without sophistication, and keeping it in our heart. It's not a deep book on theology. You'll have to look elsewhere for that, but it's good for teaching especially the beginning Christian the importance of the word of God.

Valuable Contribution To Christian Understanding

Bonhoeffer gives us a very valuable book showing the intricacies of life with other Christians in community. He gives us first of all a pattern for daily life, for one's individual practice and ones interaction with other community members. he gives suggestions about prayer time, about singing, about reading of scripture, about performing one's work. He contrasts being alone versus being a community and why each aspect is important. Perhaps I'm sounding analytical but I don't mean to. I feel like this is very valuable book because he has so much wisdom about the Christian faith in general...

He also touches on important aspects of essential Christian issues like forgiveness, sin, pride. So one can always learn more about the Christian faith from listening to this wise teacher, just like listening to other wise teachers... That's why I like books such as this.

The narrator has a basically serious yet enthusiastic tone, not boring. He speaks in an ordinary moderate pace. He is expressive and emphatic where he needs to be...

Tolstoy Becomes Real Christian!

He tells how he went from a social elite, but really useless person to one who has real trust in God. There were many parallels with Christian scripture. What I got from this is what Jesus said about how it's very hard for the rich to come to him. It also shows how you must be like a child to enter the Kingdom. I think any Christian would enjoy listening to this and could learn from it.

Being a writer and an intellectual, Tolstoy of course explores the nuances of what real faith is. That's why I so enjoyed it. It is good to have a real understanding of what faith is in general terms, not only for oneself but to discuss with your Christian brothers and sisters. Many times he related what he was saying to Christian scripture. The experienced Christian will easily see other scripture references that he did not mention, as well.

It is also good for discussing with the unbeliever, in natural perhaps secular terms, what it means to believe in God, and why faith is necessary. So it has an apologetic aspect also. Certainly for the would be apologist I would very much recommend this book!

Narration was excellent. Vance has a very pleasant voice, speaks slow enough and clearly. He is very easy to listen to.

Wigglesworth is surely a good book to read, listen to when considering how the Holy Spirit works in the life of a believer. He's relatively uneducated but yet through the Holy Spirit working in his life he did so many things. That's what this book is about, the power of the Holy Spirit working in the believer's life. Maybe there are some who disagree with his interpretation, but this is surely to be considered.

The reader r did an excellent job, obviously enthusiastic about the material, pleasant voice to listen to.

Essential Book For Living Life

This is a really important key for understanding and living life, certainly for understanding Christianity itself. We must both have authority and be vulnerable. To get the most out of it you would need to be a Christian already, but you can still get a lot out of it even if you're not. You may think I'm exaggerating with the title of my review but I'm not. I've never heard this explained anywhere else, is so important.

Speaker is clear, emphatic where he needs to be, expressive. I believe the Christian doctrine that he does mention is sound.

Dr. Bennet Omalu from Nigeria describes how he came about to discover the disease of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, CTE. This is a chronic and so far irreversible and highly damaging condition that occurs in the brain from repeated blows to the head. He first discovered it in the brains of several professional football players, but he emphasizes that he can hurt with other blows to the head, and not just in adults but children also. His story was chronicled in the movie "Concussion," with Dr Omalu played by Will Smith. Mainly it talks about how he discovered the disease, and the struggles he had with bringing it to light against the opposition of the NFL.

He talks a little about his personal history as well, his struggles in Nigeria, his relationship with his wife and colleagues, and his faith in God. For us Americans he also provides a nice objective viewpoint on the racism that was present here during his college years and I assume somewhat now.

Narration is excellent. narrator has also an African accent, he uses voice inflection when necessary. I only gave the story 4 stars because it seems like he does repeat himself a little bit. I highly recommend this book, especially for parents of underage children who might be interested in contact sports. Every parent needs to be aware of what he's talking about here.

I loved this book. For the true Christian, the knowledge that this book gives you is indispensable. Every Christian needs to understand this. The blood of Christ is what helps us, enables us to overcome. It's what gives us freedom!

The author Andrew Murray has a history of making such rich spiritual books, and this one is no exception. Narrator is very easy to listen to, has a pleasant mellow voice, easy to understand.

Outstanding Gospel Book

Keller hit it out of the park with this one. He does an outstanding job of explaining the gospel of Mark, chapter by chapter, so as to reveal who Jesus is, His relation to the godhead, His importance to us, the need for His death on the cross, the evidence for and importance of the Resurrection, the importance of grace, what it means to be saved, so many things.

if you are have never read or listen to this author you are in for a treat. He is one of the best if not the best theologian alive today IMO. He has a way of explaining many different aspects of theology and tying them all together so they can be understood. if you have questions about salvation, about the resurrection, about who Jesus was, likely they will be answered here. Keller is very much an intellectual, you will learn a lot. I just finished my second listening and starting on a third, to make sure I get it all.

Narrarator is the same one who seems to do all of Keller's books. He speaks in a calm, authoritative, yet friendly manner, very easy to listen to.

Giving You A Biblical Framework For Good Decisions

Surely we all could use help in making decisions. All of us have regrets.. Andy Stanley gives us a five part filter on how to make good decisions, decisions that we're less likely to regret later and that are more in line with God's will. While it's not an in depth theology book I think it's a good start to give someone a framework for making good decisions. I would say this book is for someone at least in their twenties.

The book is not too long, could listen to it in one afternoon if you wanted to. as I said, it's not a deep theology book, but it's more practical. It discusses practical principles that anyone could apply to their lives. The last one probably only a Christian is likely to apply... In each section he does give illustrations from the Bible to help us understand. In the summary Stanley brings it all together and shows us how this is a way to renew our mind and ultimately to move towards the will of God as Paul talks about, towards knowing His will for your life.

Stanley reads the book himself, does so with inflection and an interesting and clear voice.
