Wow, just 🤯 WOW, and not in a good way
Revisado: 02-12-25
Couldn’t finish. I liked the female character at first. Then come in the male chauvinist jerk, all smiles and judgmental. The female character being physically and mentally abused so she can get with the dictates of the makes in her life. Just when I expected her to finally fight for herself, she’s hit, and what does she do? She gives him apologies, hugs n kisses 🤮. I hate when female characters are portrayed as weak, stupid doormats. Especially if the author is a woman. Why can’t you make your female lead smart, and strong?

Week female character, bad narration
Revisado: 11-14-24
Considering the female character was from the future, how can she be so annoyingly weak?? She had no skills, no modern smarts to use to solve problems!! What was the use of the female character being from the future? I feel the author could have done so much better if she gave Emma some kind of power. If you’re going to transport the character back in time, at least make them some kind of bad ass.
This book was such a letdown, considering I kept to the 3rd book to see how things went 😔

Historia
Lady Douglass de Clifford is reticent about marrying an English soldier who holds a Scottish castle for their king. Ater all, she doesn’t really believe the English should be battling the Scots for their own land. When she arrives in Dumfries, their party is unexpectedly ambushed. Besieged by rebel Scots, she is tossed from her horse, only to be saved by a Highland warrior who promises safety even as he absconds with her. She vows to run away, until his tender kiss makes her doubt everything she has ever known.

The lady was too annoying. I get that she was brave, but that doesn’t mean she should lack common sense. Love Eliza Knight’s books, but couldn’t finish this one 🙂↔️

Historia
Charlotte Lane was the tomboy who lived next door. Eyes the color of the summer sky. Mounds of curly blond hair. A little bit of sassy and a whole lot of sweet. She was my best friend. My confidant. My salvation. But when circumstances tore us apart, it put more than just miles between us. I hated her. Blamed her for my worst nightmare. And I never wanted to see her again. Then one wrong turn brought her back into my life, and now she's under my skin.

The real story was not told! Waste of listening hours!!!
Revisado: 12-02-23
After the cliffhanger in book 1, book 2 was disappointedly all about nothing. The main story for me would have been about the fire, what went on, why and whose fault. I kept waiting for the author to take us there, especially when there was evidence, but all the time the main characters were like doing nothing about it, even as when the bad guy was doing everything to bring them down!!! What about when Jasper was in jail and charlotte was almost killed? Why wouldn’t anyone use the evidence to bring justice. They just leave it 😡 And what about when Adam was shot in broad daylight?
Instead of giving us the real story in this book, the author went on and on about meaningless nonsense about the characters. Especially when charlotte had practically all the evidence in her dad’s box plus the one found hidden at the B&B, she just told the guys to throw it away!! I mean 😖 gah!
I kept fast forwarding until I got to the quickly summed up end, with questions like, what happened to the city, was it revived? What about the bad guy? The fire, the victims? The corrupt people who covered it up?
Don’t bother with this series if you get anxious about thing left undone. There was so much the author could have done with this plot, but chose to focus on nothing

Revisado: 11-17-23
So many times you can listen to an audio book and as much as you’d love to know the whole story, the narrator/narrators spoil it all. And the two narrators here were GOOD. Mason Lloyd & Kendall Taylor took the whole experience a step higher. I have added them to my list of fav narrators. That’s how I found this writer. On to the next book in the series 😁

Misleading title
Revisado: 11-07-23
Wrong title since there are no quads. Note to whoever coined the title: quadruplets means 4 babies born at one birth, not a baby born as the fourth child!!! So this book broke the series progression compared to previous titles in the series. It would have been better to see how adding quads to the story would have turned out.

Get this 2010 version of this series instead of the newer 2021 version
Revisado: 04-19-23
I’m glad I have this older 2010 audio copy narrated by Rosalyn Landor. I don’t know why they re-did this series in 2021, and switched narrators mid-series, but but being a big fan of Lisa Klypas, as much as I love her books, bringing in Mary Jane wells messed up the flow. Her voice is blunt, character narration doesn’t have any distinctive differences in the dialogues, she’s one of the narrators I see under a title and just go straight to get the ebook, otherwise I never finish the audio book. I’d rather read the book than struggle through the audio. The narration kills the enjoyment of listening to this series the way you’re supposed to.
If you want to enjoy this wallflower series, get this one narrated by Rosalyn Landor through out the series, otherwise you’ll be thrown off the fun in the story by Mary Jane well’s narration, in the newer version that was released in 2021 of this series. They messed up a great production, you should have just redone the book covers and left the narration as was. Who advices on this? You should ask the people listening to the audio book.
Anyway great job on this piece 👍🏾
If you are unlucky to get the 2021 version of this series, get a refund and find the 2010 version (narrated by Rosalyn Landor the whole series)

Continuation of ‘The Byrons of Braebourne’ series
Revisado: 08-10-19
I had previously read this series and I must admit it didn’t make an impact on me at the time. Not until I listen to the ‘The Byrons of Braebourne’ series by the same author. This book is the first in the ‘Rakes of Cavendish Square’ series. If one is to fully enjoy this series, please listen to the Byron’s of Braebourne series. I only wish Rebecca De Leeuw could have narrated the Rakes of Cavendish Square series as well. She did an amazing job in the previous series. I think the author put more effort in the first series than with the second where the stories of the last of Byron siblings are told. Their characters were better portrayed in the first series in their older siblings’ stories than in their own stories in the second series. A good narrator can improve a boring book, and in this series of the Rakes of Cavendish Square the three narrators totally messed it up. The name pronunciation of some of the characters was done so differently by the narrators that it took me a while to catch up. But my curiosity to know what happened to the last three Byron siblings was enough for me to bear it to finish the series. This series also helped me catch up with the older Byron siblings in their HEA.

Historia
Gifted pianist Valentine Windham, youngest son of the duke of Moreland, has little interest in his father's obsession to see his sons married, and instead pours passion into his music. But when Val loses his music, he flees to the country, alone and tormented by what has been robbed from him. Grieving Ellen Markham has hidden herself away, looking for safety in solitude. Her curious new neighbor offers a kindred lonely soul whose desperation is matched only by his desire, but Ellen's devastating secret could be the one thing that destroys them both.

A very moving story plot.. and the characters are very engaging, though towards the ending I was getting very disappointed with the heroin, the author could have given here more guts. her character was kind of left wanting. otherwise it's a good read.
