Another Solid Entry into Thrawn's Story
Revisado: 08-02-19
This is a great book. If you like Thrawn or Star Wars, check this out ASAP. I think this is the better than Thrawn Alliances, but not quite as good as Thrawn. This book does a great job at keeping the story grounded. Thrawn and the other characters aren't super-human, which makes for a great story. Also, Eli Vanto is back and I love that character!

Habits are Hardwired, but Can Be Reprogrammed
Revisado: 08-02-19
Habits dictate what everyone does. These habits are hardwired into us, so that we obey our habits without even thinking about it. However, these habits can be reprogrammed by someone who makes a consistent effort.
This is a pretty good listen.

Great Information, but not the best Audio Book
Revisado: 08-02-19
This book has a ton of key principles for sales and real estate. You will be given a lot of tools and ideas on how to best succeed. However, it's a really poor format to list to. The chapters are small, there's 365 of them, and they all last 3-5 minutes. This equates to listening to a bunch of self-contained chapters in one sessions, which is weird. Also, some of these chapters repeat and it's kinda lame.

Good, not Great.
Revisado: 08-02-19
This book is a good introduction into real estate and sales. It covers a little bit of everything, but not a lot of anything. I listened to the entire book and I can't distill anything that I really learned. This is a good reminder of principles, but it isn't anything you (probably) haven't already heard.

Good, not Great. (Almost No Analysis)
Revisado: 05-21-19
This should be titled 'History's Great Military Blunders (Full Stop)' because there is almost no discussion on the lessons that they teach. In a typical lesson, 95% of the lecture is the story of the blunder and 5% is an analysis of that blunder. This does make for a great, story-time approach to history. However, you won't actually get that much from the professors "insights".
I liked this course, but just know that it's just story-time.

An Excellent Crash Course into Negotiation
Revisado: 05-21-19
This book is all about negotiation. Voss combines stories from his career as an negotiator with principles of negotiation. This makes for a very grounded approach towards the importance of negotiation. I felt inspired after reading this book and began implementing some of the concepts, but I noticed that I implemented them poorly (I need more practice).
If you don't like hearing about police work, then this book isn't for you. However, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get better at persuasion.

Historia
Levitt and co-author Stephen J. Dubner show that economics is, at root, the study of incentives: how people get what they want, or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing. In Freakonomics, they explore the hidden side of...well, everything. The inner working of a crack gang...the truth about real-estate agents...the secrets of the Klu Klux Klan. What unites all these stories is a belief that the modern world is even more intriguing than we think. All it takes is a new way of looking, and Freakonomics will redefine the way we view the modern world.

An Interesting, but Flawed Look into Trends
Revisado: 05-21-19
There are a lot of interesting stories in this book. I particularly liked the study of cheating in sumo wrestling. If you want statistic based entertainment that causes to you to think, then this a great book for you. If you want the statistical proof that their claims are accurate, look elsewhere. This book is convincing, but only because the stories are interesting. If you are a skeptical person, you might get annoyed at this book.

Interesting Content, but Poor Audio Presentation
Revisado: 03-26-19
There are some really intesting topics covered in this book, but the way they are presented falls short. The professor/narrator often references diagrams, figures, and charts. This is a huge problem when you are listening to the audiobook version of the lectures because you can't see anything he's referencing, but he's speaking to you as if you can see it. I think these would be great lectures to watch, but they are poor lectures to hear.
If you do listen to this, know that the course starts strong and gets worse as it goes along. That's because it's overall a chronological look at the finanical market and the older disasters are easier to describe without charts. You may want to listen to the first half of this course and then shut it off, it's only going to get worse.

How to Sustainably Lift Nations out of Poverty
Revisado: 02-11-19
Good people exist all over the world. When good people from wealthy nations see people in poor nations struggle to feed and cloth themselves, charity is usually the first thing that people think of. Huge charitable donations and programs are undertaken to provide relief to desperate people. Sadly, these programs are highly ineffective at combating the underlying issues. People without food will still not have food after the chartible donations have been consumed.
This book presents a more effective way for helping people who desperately need help: innovation. The theory of this book is that lasting change occurs in individual lives when those people are given jobs and jobs are most likely to be generated via innovation. To use a common adage: "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime". People will pull themselves out of poverty, as they are given the chance to do meaningful work that will provide themselves a living. Most people understand that, but this book does an excellent job at demostrating that it's innovation that creates those jobs most effectively.
This book is going to teach you a lot about market creation, innovation, and developing markets. It's an excellent read if you are interested in creating products, business, or helping stuggling people.

The Benchmark for Chartiable, Rich Men
Revisado: 01-30-19
Milton Hershey came from nothing and built himself into a success by failing over and over again. After failing enough time, Milton learned how to make caramel and later chocolate. Soon after his chocolate success, Milton began giving back to his employees and to the people in his community. Milton died with little wealth, but helped thousands of people ascend out of poverty.
This is a great biography. If you are looking for a person who did good with the wealth they were given, check this book out.
