Why does Rock Engle keep getting cast?

The story: It was ok. Could have used more plot. It seems like it was rushed with everything that happened in such a short amount of time. Also, the MMC calling the FMC "Little One" is just weird and gives predator vibes.
The performance: I wish the entire book was narrated by Charlotte Claremont. She did a better job with the MMC voice than Rock Engle. I don't know why he keeps getting cast in these roles. He sounds like an old man and it was weird.

Where to start. The narration and post production of this book was better than the first. But I feel like this was longer than it needed to be. And the author added "spicy" scenes that did nothing for the story. There was no real lead up to these scenes. It felt like they just jumped into them. I feel as though the "spicy" scenes could have been left out, made it a fade to black book, and it would have fit better with the over all writing and feel of the book. This book felt very YA until those scenes. It also took well over half way through the book to get to any kind of plot. Until then, it felt like a "day in the life" kind of book and it was honestly a bit boring.

Decent story for a first time author

For her first novel(novella), this was a good story. She wrote this based on a D&D campaign she ran, and it reads as such. There is no inner character dialogue. There is a little bit of world building, but there is no explanation of how the magic works. This is something that you just know if you play D&D (which I do).
The audiobook could have been done better. I think it was meant to come across as an old story teller, telling the story, but I did not like the narrator. His voice for the female characters was very annoying and bad. There are also several time where lines repeat for no reason. Not sure if that was something that was missed in the editing or if audible was the issue.
I am going to listen to the next book. I think it's good for what it is.

How can a narrator sound like an old grandpa

The voice actor for Darcy leaves a lot to be desired. He makes this very gruff, dominating male sound like a 70 yr old grandpa. It's very icky when he is doing the spicy scenes.

Inconsistencies

Story: There is one chapter that needs to be re-recorded. I am not sure how the author managed to put the wrong name in for Echo's girlfriend.
Performance: The voice Alexander Cendese did for Falcon makes me think of preppy, over inflated ego guys. But I am pretty sure that was point.
Overall: It's ok.
