Historia
Susan Fowler was just twenty-five years old when her blog post describing the sexual harassment and retaliation she'd experienced at Uber riveted the nation. Her post would eventually lead to the ousting of Uber's powerful CEO, but its ripples extended far beyond that, as her courageous choice to attach her name to the post inspired other women to speak publicly about their experiences. In the year that followed, an unprecedented number of women came forward, and Fowler was recognized by Time as one of the "Silence Breakers" who ignited the #MeToo movement.

Interesting.....

But there are also two sides to every story. For someone who didn’t follow the Uber case, it was interesting to learn details. Otherwise, her ascent from poverty and how it formed who she is were interesting.

Revisado: 05-27-20
He names names and that’s fun for someone like me. I enjoyed the Hollywood history, workings, and how some people earned fame. I learned film terms and acting techniques . Plus, it’s just fun to know some salacious gossip and who knows who!

After writing his acclaimed debut effort, Lowe felt he had more stories to share and many more friends to introduce. The result is a touching memoir about the business and craft of acting, the pitfalls of success, family, love, and much more.

Revisado: 05-27-20
During this time of reflection when my youngest son has now graduated from high school, it was endearing to relate to Rob’s reminiscences, insights, shared experiences, and sentimentalities.
Plus, it’s just cool to have some ‘inside scoop’ on Hollywood - TV & film.

Historia
Levitt and co-author Stephen J. Dubner show that economics is, at root, the study of incentives: how people get what they want, or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing. In Freakonomics, they explore the hidden side of...well, everything. The inner working of a crack gang...the truth about real-estate agents...the secrets of the Klu Klux Klan. What unites all these stories is a belief that the modern world is even more intriguing than we think. All it takes is a new way of looking, and Freakonomics will redefine the way we view the modern world.

This was a great choice for high school and college students learning about cost/benefit and ‘how the world works.’ (I also enjoyed it with them.) Fun questions to contemplate - racism, drug dealing, real estate, sexual orientation, parenting. And a teenage favorite.... DNA in dog poop.

Well-Done
Revisado: 03-25-20
The depth of characters and intriguing plot kept me listening. I loved the character of Detective Forcade - his confidence and fierce defense of his wife - his unconventional methods that always came out on top - his French accent and swagger (except the smoking).
The narrator was outstanding and mastered accents and dialect. The cultural references to Louisiana added depth an interest.

No need to imagine! Performance puts you there whether you want to be or not. Expertly written and not a dull moment. I was begging for a lull just to chew on the lean storytelling. No luck. Full throttle. Beautiful minds. True grit.
