Stuck it out. It was a mix.

I was bored to tears for the first 5-6 hours... I wanted to give up. The scenes with action and moments leading up to the action was very well executed - but the wordiness and periods of boredom lasted too long.
Narration-wise, a few things bothered me. Especially in the first 10 hours of the book, his silky sweet end-of-sentence up-talking annoyed me deeply in a "hey kids, I have puppies in the back of my creepy van" kind of way. Additionally, I prefer someone who has a variety of voices for the characters - he had a couple of characters with their own voices, but that was it.

Love this mostly...

This book is wonderful, the acting is mostly great, the sounds fit perfectly but the voice actor for the main female character Juniper doesn't fit: she doesn't have an Irish accent and has a high-pitched immature sounding voice that doesn't represent the character well.

Fair points, insufferable character

As a prepper specifically concerned about a solar flare or EMP knocking out the grid, I was very much looking forward to this book - but I was disappointed in the igorantly misogynistic main character and consistent biblical/religious references.
Additionally, he intended this book to be accurate, but he missed a huge point regarding gasoline and the running vehicles in the book.
His mind is focused on the breakdown of society and the military side of things and never discusses anything relating to farming or rebuilding.
There are good pieces to the book, but it's more annoying than it is entertaining.

When I listen to an audiobook I expect it not to sound like someone reading off of a page. The voice acting was not natural or believable, the story was very very highly abridged and I'm unfortunately quite disappointed.

Everyone has a preference for meditation voices, I just can't seem to connect here. The beat in the background is distracting and less peaceful, though the gentler music overlay is nice.
