Epic

Talk about DRAMA. It's been a while since a police procedural took me on such a whirlwind journey, it was amazing.
Spoilers below!
I must say, i'm relieved to be officially done with the Mr. Whisper saga. He was an excellent villain but he took up all of Logan's brain space. His existence plagued Logan for so long, it's only fitting it come to an end. And even though Bosco was an interesting character to have around, it's good to not have a mob boss free forever. On to the next one!

Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Open your minds and you will be rewarded
Revisado: 04-19-23
This book is in a somewhat different format, switching between 2nd person and 3rd person POV. While initially jarring, it is necessary and adds to the story. Jemisin has a lyrical way of writing, everything is written with a purpose and the desire to make you feel. To dismiss this book outright would be a massive disservice to yourself.

Love these books but they’re so short!
Revisado: 04-18-19
These books have been so great so far, I especially loved the character turn around for Lacy. However, I feel like we learned more about Lacy as a whole then Ben at all! I don’t know if Ragan has an end game in mind for these books but I hope she doesn’t put off Ben’s story until the very last book.

I love this series, every book keeps you wanting more, keeps you reading (listening) until the very end. I’m so happy that another book is coming out this year. For those of you that love crime novels with a hint of romance, this series is for you!
If I had an critique, it’s that allllll of these events in these books happening in less than a year? I don’t think so.

My heart is full
Revisado: 01-06-19
Few YA books are able to fill me with a sense of amazement, happiness, sadness and regret. Regret only because this adventure seems to be over. There is so much room to expand but even if there is never another book about any of these colorful characters I will still be glad for what I’ve been given. These books, this author and these narrators have given me and many people something to experience and remember. I look forward to looking into more books by Leigh Bardugo.

Historia
Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her. While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce," Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name.

TLDR, pretty good! Spoilers Incoming!
Revisado: 01-06-19
I really liked the overall concept of this book. It went in many directions I didn't expect, like Emory getting back to civilization so fast and Hayes whisking her away. My few issues are one, how easily Emory gave into Hayes (I think that's his name). Not that he was pressuring her but she was all about having sex with someone that she thought might've kidnapped her. So many things and issues could have been entirely avoided if he had just come clean. "I found you on a trail and it looks like someone tried to bash your head in with a rock, here's the rock, I know it sounds awful buuuuut..."
I truly did love the breaks away with the detective looking for Hayes, giving us the impression that he was, in fact, guilty of something awful (though I did suspect otherwise). It was also amazing of Sandra here to get us into Emory's husband's head, that even though he wasn't involved, he was shit enough person to have been severely disappointed in Emory being alive. Overall though, loved it!

An Amazing Start!
Revisado: 12-31-18
If you're looking for super happy endings, characters with only happy go lucky times in their lives, then T.R. Ragan is not an author for you. Her characters are flawed, mysterious, full of sorrow and regrets. Kate Rudd helps bring them to life and she's exactly who I'd want to narrate these books! Maybe it's because I'm caught up on the books, but I really enjoy them and I'm quite excited to see what's to come for Jessie Cole and her odd crew.

It's so clever, witty and keeps you guessing at Miss Holmes' plans, truly a wonderful take on the Sherlock Holmes stories! Kate Reading has a gentle yet commanding voice that demands you listen to what she has to say and her male impressions are amazing!

Love Melinda Leigh's Work
Revisado: 12-31-18
I read this book a while ago but decided to give it another go because I didn't realize that Melinda's Scarlet Falls series was connected to these books! Written first even! So while we wait patiently for the next book to come out I wanted to sing Melinda's praises for such compelling and sexy mystery/thriller books! All the characters are interesting, have their own little quirks and it makes for a great read. I think one of my favorite parts is Morgan using her femininity to her advantage, allowing people to underestimate her because she likes to look girly. Usually, in my experience, the protag has maybe one kid, usually none. But 3?? It gives Morgan a sense of reliability, other than chasing killers of course, who doesn't do that? ;)
I can't wait to see what comes out next!
