Historia
Summoned to an abandoned theme park to retrieve a body, Dr. Kay Scarpetta is devastated to learn that the victim is a man she once had an intense love affair with. The murder scene is bizarre, with a crop circle of petals around the body, and Giordano’s skin is strangely red. Scarpetta’s niece Lucy believes he was dropped from an unidentified flying craft. Scarpetta knows an autopsy can reveal the dead’s secrets, but she is shocked to find her friend seems to have deliberately left her a clue.

The narration
Revisado: 02-23-25
January Lavoy is the best narrator thus far. You don’t even realize that you’re listening to the same person. The only reason I gave the story four stars instead of five is because I’m done with Cary G. She needs to die already. No more stories with cary them please

Historia
A woman has vanished while digging a dinosaur bone bed in the remote wilderness of Canada. Somehow, the only evidence has made its way to the inbox of Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta, over two thousand miles away in Boston. She has no idea why. But as events unfold with alarming speed, Scarpetta begins to suspect that the paleontologist’s disappearance is connected to a series of crimes much closer to home: a gruesome murder, inexplicable tortures, and trace evidence from the last living creatures of the dinosaur age.

Contrary to other reviews
Revisado: 10-27-24
I almost didn’t listen to this book because of some of the bad reviews. I may not be a writer like some of the critics, but I felt that the book was very well written and captivating. Contrary to with some of the reviews said I don’t find Capeta to be self-absorbed or her husband to be narcissistic. My only criticism is that this particular narrator makes Lucy‘s voice sound like she’s on testosterone. Great plot twist

Historia
Kay Scarpetta has been training at the Dover Port Mortuary, mastering the art of 'virtual autopsy'—a groundbreaking procedure that could soon revolutionise forensic science. And it is not too long before these new skills urgently need to be put into practice. A young man drops dead, apparently from a heart condition, eerily close to Scarpetta's home. But when his body is examined the next morning, there are stunning indications that he may have been alive when he was zipped inside a pouch and locked in the cooler.

Hard to follow
Revisado: 09-21-24
I liked that PC went back to speaking in the first person. However, at times, it was difficult - almost exhausting - to follow her internal thoughts vs narration. Also, unlike the previous narrator who made Lucy sound like she was on testosterone’s, this narrator, while doing a great job with Scarpetta, made Marino sound weak and Benton sound perpetually tired/high. Not a fan of all the political references about the Reagan and Apartheid. All that said, the story line was excellent. Love that she kept Sock and that animals bring out a less turbulent, conflicted side of Scarpetta.

Historia
Leaving behind her private forensic pathology practice in Charleston, South Carolina, Kay Scarpetta accepts an assignment in New York City, where the NYPD has asked her to examine an injured man on Bellevue Hospital’s psychiatric prison ward. The handcuffed and chained patient, Oscar Bane, has specifically asked for her, and when she literally has her gloved hands on him, he begins to talk—and the story he has to tell turns out to be one of the most bizarre she has ever heard.

Lucy’s voice
Revisado: 08-30-24
What on earth happened to Lucy’s voice in the audible book?! It’s as if the narrator (Redding?) felt she needed an injection of testosterone. Lucy’s voice was actually a higher pitch than Scarpetta’s in previous books, even narrated by the same person. now she sounds like a man in estrogen or a woman in testosterone.

Historia
In Trace, Scarpetta travels to Richmond, Virginia, at the odd behest of the recently appointed Chief Medical Examiner, who claims that he needs her help to solve a perplexing crime. When she arrives, however, Scarpetta finds that nothing is as she expected: her former lab is in the final stages of demolition; the inept chief isn't the one who requested her after all; her old assistant chief has developed personal problems that he won't reveal; and a glamorous FBI agent, whom Marino dislikes instantly, meddles with the case.

Love the accuracy
Revisado: 08-18-24
I’m from the south Florida area. There were streets mentioned that I drive on daily. I appreciate the accuracy of layout. (I.e. when driving east on Atlantic and making a left on A1A, you actually do run into the Hillsboro inlet). Nice to see a glimmer of hope that both Lucy and Marino realize they need to change.

Poor Louisiana
Revisado: 08-16-24
Great story, although really cringe at times. Benton’s plot was so intricate! It just goes to show what an excellent writer Cornwell is. On a side note, this book was horrible PR for LA, especially Baton Rouge!!

Like reading it yourself!
Revisado: 07-04-24
This was my second audible book. The first one was by another crime, writer and written just last year. It felt like I was watching the TV, but without the screen. It was terrible. The acting was terrible. But I had read a book by Patricia Cornwell so decided to give audible one more chance and this was phenomenal. I felt like I had the book in front of me, which is my preference.the narrator was excellent. Had me on the edge of my seat there at one point.
