Historia
The name Captain James Cook is one of the most recognisable in Australian history - an almost mythic figure who is often discussed, celebrated, reviled and debated. But who was the real James Cook? This Yorkshire farm boy would go on to become the foremost mariner, scientist, navigator and cartographer of his era, and to personally map a third of the globe. His great voyages of discovery were incredible feats of seamanship and navigation.

Historia
In the 70,000 years that modern human beings have walked this earth, we've come a long way. Art, science, culture, trade - on the evolutionary food chain, we're real winners. But, frankly, it's not exactly been plain sailing, and sometimes - just occasionally - we've managed to really, truly, quite unbelievably f--k things up. From Chairman Mao's Four Pests Campaign to the sinking of the Titanic; from the American Dustbowl to the world's leading superpower electing a reality TV mogul as President...it's pretty safe to say that, as a species, we haven't exactly grown wiser with age.

we should spend more time learning from history, rather than charging headfirst into the mistakes of the future. Well written, excellent performance and well researched. Listen, think and learn.

What do Starbucks and JetBlue and KrispyKreme and Apple and DutchBoy and Kensington and Zespri and Hard Candy have that you don't? How do they continue to confound critics and achieve spectacular growth, leaving behind former tried-and true brands to gasp their last? Face it, the checklist of tired P's marketers have used for decades to get their product noticed - Pricing, Promotion, Publicity, to name a few - aren't working anymore.

This book is not a purple cow.
Revisado: 11-19-18
The book promises a lot but fails to deliver. Seth stretched out what would have been an interesting blog article into a full length book. In doing so he watered down the concept and tried to force the metaphor to work across all business cases. Basically Seth labels any of the traditional 4Ps as a "purple cow" whenever they are done to an exceptional standard. It's nothing innovative, its just slapping a label on good marketing.

Every marketer tells a story. And if they do it right, we believe them. We believe that wine tastes better in a $20 glass than a $1 glass. We believe that an $80,000 Porsche Cayenne is vastly superior to a $36,000 VW Touareg, which is virtually the same car. We believe that $225 Pumas will make our feet feel better, and look cooler, than $20 no-names... and believing it makes it true.

The Clickbait of Books
Revisado: 11-19-18
"All marketers are liars" is the equivalent of clickbait for books. The book is designed to sell as many copies as possible as opposed to offering any unique value to the reader. It's just recycled marketing principles and weak real world examples. The end of the book is just a pitch to buy Seth's other books. I have read those too and they aren't worth buying either.

Historia
In Made to Stick, Chip and Dan Heath reveal the anatomy of ideas that stick and explain ways to make ideas stickier, such as applying the human scale principle, using the Velcro Theory of Memory, and creating curiosity gaps. Along the way, we discover that sticky messages of all kinds—from the infamous “kidney theft ring” hoax to a coach’s lessons on sportsmanship to a vision for a new product at Sony—draw their power from the same six traits.

Historia
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

I enjoyed this one, was a similar "super soldier" story, but easy to digest. that said, for those looking for a thrilling page turner, it might leave you a little disappointed.
would reccomend though, specifically if you are getting into the genre and starting out.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Non traditional view of the world, and I liked it.
Revisado: 06-14-18
The author has a very non traditional view of the world, and it is refreshing to hear. Given the media focus and mass appeal of traditional motivation and the need to be energized and excited about everything, this book demonstrates the power of focus, prioritizing energy and not giving a fuck about things that do not really matter...

Historia
The Thank You Economy is about something big, something greater than any single revolutionary platform. It isn't some abstract concept or wacky business strategy—it's real, and every one of us is doing business in it every day, whether we choose to recognize it or not. It's the way we communicate, the way we buy and sell, the way businesses and consumers interact online and offline.

Content contained within should be treated like gold. Case studies are shining example of how to treat customers as humans and not data points. Every social media and customer support function should base strategy off of the principles set out in this book.

Jack Reacher is having a bad day. It would be a dumb idea to make it worse. Reacher sees a West Point class ring in a pawn shop window. It's tiny. It's a woman cadet's graduation present to herself. Why would she give it up? Reacher was a West Pointer too, and he knows what she went through to get it.

Jack Reacher is back!
Revisado: 12-10-17
Reacher is back to his incredible self, enjoyable from start to finish. A character like no other.
Lee Child manages to hold the attention of the reader with the simplest details. Pulling the reader in, painting a detailed picture, all without the need for multiple story arches, overly complex relationships or new character introductions.
Simple, brutal, real, thoughtful - all words to describe this book.
