Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

This was...wow
Revisado: 09-14-22
This book was eye opening in so many ways for me. Two ways was how the entertainment industry truly is and the hardships Jennette had to endure, especially at a young age. I am, for sure, buying a physical copy as soon as I can!

The podcast has gone viral, yet Pip insists her investigating days are behind her. But she will have to break that promise when someone she knows goes missing. Jamie Reynolds has disappeared, on the very same night the town hosted a memorial for the sixth-year anniversary of the deaths of Andie Bell and Sal Singh.

I am typically not one for mystery books and all that jazz, but the first book and this one has really got me rethinking that. Fantastic story with an amazing narrator. I will definitely recommend this book to others! Now, onto the next one!!

This was my first time listening to an auto book performance and I absolutely loved it! Granted, there were a few points where the story was a little too quick, but overall, it was great and I can't wait for a sequel (if it happens 😬).

Historia
Emma Forrest, a British journalist, was just 22 and living the fast life in New York City when she realized that her quirks had gone beyond eccentricity. In a cycle of loneliness, damaging relationships, and destructive behavior, she found herself in the chair of a slim, balding, and effortlessly optimistic psychiatrist--a man whose wisdom and humanity would wrench her from the dangerous tide after she tried to end her life.

This was an interesting listen, but a good one!
Revisado: 04-17-22
In the beginning, I had somewhat of a difficult time understanding where this book was going. However, it all just clicked for me, that this isn't something to be read like a fictional story. But rather a story that someone tells you over a meal or something. I began to listen more and the story that she had to tell had a good message. That no matter how much life hurts, you will always be able to recover and prosper with the right people and the right guidance.

Historia
This provocative collection, edited by acclaimed media psychology writer Travis Langley and with a foreword by the legendary Stan Lee, examines the complex psychological and political choices made by Captain America and Iron Man throughout their careers, culminating in Marvel's superhero civil war which spreads far beyond the Avengers themselves. Why do Steve Rogers and Tony Stark see things so differently? What are their motivations? Is either one truly in the right? Captain America vs. Iron Man: Freedom, Security, Psychology analyzes the polar sides of this debate.

As a lover of comic books and psychology, this book allowed both passions to come out and express themselves. Being able to take fictional characters from a comic or a regular book and dissect their morals and values is something that I've always enjoyed. Highly recommend this book!

Hal Beekman is exhausted. With all of his energy devoted to his real estate developments, he doesn’t have the bandwidth to figure out why his wife is sad. As for Stacey Beekman, a transplanted Midwesterner with divorce-whisperer friends, the only solution for a husband who doesn’t desire her is to find a second husband who does. But with Stacey left alone in a new house to parent her tech-addicted children and Hank isolated in a Greenwich McMansion that neither of them ever loved, COVID-19 has surprises in store for the Beekmans.

As an upcoming counselor, hearing the stories Dr. Yalom told helped assure me that every therapist conducts therapy in their own way and that there is no one way to do it. Hearing how he recognized and challenged his countertransference was also very helpful. I would recommend this book for any new and upcoming counselors.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and the narrator did a good job at bringing it to life. There were a few spots where it was predictable, but overall a good story! Really considering getting the next in the series!
