My husband and I listened to this books together ( we were also a part of the private Facebook group for this book). Listening to it together precipitated lively, sometimes difficult, and, at times, healing conversations about our sex life. Hearing Gary and Debra read their portions of the book as we drove felt like we were having a private counseling session with each. I would recommend listening to this book with your spouse and discovering each other’s perspective about this delicate, beautiful area of marriage. Growing in knowledge and understanding in this area of marriage is a must and this book has helped both my husband and me grow.

The story captivates. The story within the story will keep you wanting more. Lisa Wingate is one of my favorite authors and this story did not disappoint!

The depravity of slavery. The utter disregard for men and women solely based upon the color of their skin. The dehumanizing of so many souls. Oh, how beautifully, with simple, heartfelt recollection, Harriet Ann Jacobs recounts her life as a slave. Powerful perspective we ALL should consider and remember. May all who read this take these truths to heart and resolve to treat ALL men and women the way they want to be treated: with dignity, respect, compassion and understanding.
