Historia
Pearl and Ginevra grow up in the era known as the Gilded Age in Newport, Rhode Island. One lives above the stairs, the other below. Surrounded by Astors and Vanderbilts, Pearl fills her days with teatime and shallow friendships, yearning for something more. A chance meeting with Mary Cassatt sparks her secret desire to be an artist. Meanwhile, Ginevra, fresh off the boat from Italy, finds her own dreams out of reach as she joins the unwelcoming household as a servant and seamstress.

Well written. Would definitely recommend
Revisado: 05-16-24
I quite enjoyed it. Here is why not 5 stars. Didn’t care for the simple tense used for the current events. The beginning and the end sounded like a memo. Was missing few more chapters or events between the story and current events to develop the antagonist more in the reader’s eye. Both characters had the same voice (both in writing and narration.) one needed to have a slightly different character, they were essentially the same exact person. For the performer, it would have been nice to put a different tonality or style of reading from one character to the other. Yes, few words were mispronounced but that didn’t at all take away from the overall experience. So I disagree with other reviewers on this point. There was a solid, well written story with attention to nuances. Nice use of era and genre appropriate language. Great plot twist. And the reader’s voice was very much aligned with characters’ youthful nature.

Historia
One small handwritten letter, sent from a dark, remote corner of the planet and lost in the system for 60 years, is about to change the entire human race. Outside Denver, Colorado, Joe Rickards stands over a small aircraft wreckage, studying burnt remains still smoldering in a field of freshly fallen snow. He's an investigator for the NTSB, working to carefully roll back the last several hours and identify the cause of the accident. But this time, he can't.

“Contact” but lame.
Revisado: 09-08-22
Overly theatrical narration with cliche overdrawn enunciation on every single question.
Such a week ending. Just watch Contact.
Trust me.

Most horrible awesome book.
Revisado: 06-02-22
Fantastic research. Absolutely fascinating plot that guides you through 700 years of history.
With that said, character development and dialogues are painful. I’m very happy I read it but this could have been even bigger than “the da Vinci code” if exchanges weren’t so unrealistic and out of place.

Very interesting!!!
Revisado: 04-11-22
I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter….except the end. The romantic scene is so week. Granted this is not the key point of the book but there is a build up and anticipation for how romance will come to a resolve. Not good Dan Brown. Not good. A classic silence or “feelings talk” followed by a kiss would have been better. Little disappointed for Rachel…otherwise a great book. Loved it!!!!!

Another amazing reading…except Luna’s voice.
She sounds like a tiered old man not an excentrique fun unique girl.
