Badly Narrated, mediocre content
Revisado: 04-10-22
Despite being badly narrated by an American who had problems pronouncing names, I kept going until the end.
At the beginning, the book jumps forward and backward in history which ruined the flow of the book.
Overall, it was disappointing experience.

As good as, if not better, than the movie.

I love reading Frederick Forsythe and listening to one of his books was a real treat. It was well narrated and spell binding. It kept me on the edge right to the end.

Historia
In the Nevada desert, an experiment has gone horribly wrong. A cloud of nanoparticles (micro-robots) has escaped from the laboratory. This cloud is self-sustaining and self-reproducing. It is intelligent and learns from experience. For all practical purposes, it is alive. It has been programmed as a predator. It is evolving swiftly, becoming more deadly with each passing hour. Every attempt to destroy it has failed. And we are the prey.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 09-09-15
I have not listened to Michael Crichton before and I enjoyed the book. The story is believable and more horrific as a result.
At times, the descriptions were too long and somewhat boring, but overall, it was well worth the time.
I'd recommend this to anyone.

Historia
An historic literary event: the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic To Kill a Mockingbird. Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

5 Stars all the way.
Revisado: 09-09-15
What made the experience of listening to Go Set a Watchman the most enjoyable?
I was worried, after loving To Kill a Mockingbird, that this book would not measure up, but it really did. From the beginning, I was right back there, enveloped in the age, the time and the way of thinking.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the central character, Jean Louise / Scout. The story showed clearly how her mind was working and how different things are to an adult as opposed to a child. It revealed the shocking transformation from a child's way of thinking to adult thought.
Uncle Jack, the voice of reason, disguised an an eccentric, elderly man, stood out for me.
What about Reese Witherspoon’s performance did you like?
Reese Witherspoon did a wonderful job of narrating the story from the get go. Sometimes, narrators grate on my nerves, but I forgot the narrator completely and was absorbed in the story. She portrayed each character very well. I will look for her again.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was not expecting to enjoy the book, but I really did. It clearly demonstrated both sides of the story and in a way that was acceptable and understandable.
Any additional comments?
To anyone who is considering reading this but who hesitates because it would be impossible to match To Kill A Mocking Bird, stop hesitating. Go Set a Watchman is about as good as it gets.

Historia
A huge novel that follows five families through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for votes for women. It is 1911. The Coronation Day of King George V. The Williams, a Welsh coal-mining family, is linked by romance and enmity to the Fitzherberts, aristocratic coal-mine owners. Lady Maud Fitzherbert falls in love with Walter von Ulrich, a spy at the German Embassy in London.

Definitely worth a listen.
Revisado: 08-26-15
What did you love best about Fall of Giants?
I loved the way the characters were woven into actual events with seemingly historical accuracy.
What did you like best about this story?
The families were easy to follow and the characters were really well developed.
Which character – as performed by John Lee – was your favorite?
All of the characters were great and the narration was excellent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It is too long to listen to in one sitting but I spent too many late nights up because of it. It is a masterpiece. Before this one, Pillars of the Earth was my favourite book but it sure has opposition in this one.

Excellent read
Revisado: 11-07-14
If you could sum up Eye of the Needle in three words, what would they be?
A real pageturner!
What other book might you compare Eye of the Needle to and why?
I like the storytelling style of the book and it compares favourably with The Pillars of the Earth. It's well told, and the narration is excellent.
Which scene was your favorite?
The episode on Storm Island after the German spy landed was definitely my favourite. It was full of suspense.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
World War II Action Adventure.
Any additional comments?
I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The beginning was captivating and it worked up to a wonderful crescendo with a delightful epilogue.
