Historia
Using portraits of America’s flawed policy makers and accounts of the forces that drove them, The Best and the Brightest reckons magnificently with the most important abiding question of our country’s recent history: Why did America become mired in Vietnam, and why did we lose? As the definitive single-volume answer to that question, this enthralling book has never been superseded. It is an American classic.

Overly opinionated.
Revisado: 01-29-24
Great book with tons of facts. but the facts, though they point to the conclusions drawn, seem riddled with opinion. And though the facts are probable as accurate as possible, there seem to be too many instances where thoughts are put into the characters minds. Like assuming what they were thinking and why they decided things as they did. Was the way tragic? From this young, (back then) Marine’s viewpoint, Yes it was. But the constant battering of the characters supposedly erred mindset got tiring.

Good read, weak finish.
Revisado: 07-31-23
Seemed like the author tired of telling this great story at the end. Story lines dropped with little or no conclusion. It just stopped a chapter early.

If you have had the pleasure of reading all or even most of the preceding episodes of Jack and Steven, then this installment will be most joyous to you. Deep in detail and unswerving in style. Through and through a treasure.
Enjoy!

Historia
Battle: The Story of the Bulge, John Toland's first work of military history, recounts the saga of beleaguered American troops as they resisted Hitler's deadly counter offensive in World War II's Battle of the Bulge - and turned it into an Allied victory. It is a gripping work, painstakingly researched and imbued with such vivid detail that listeners will feel as though they themselves witnessed these events. This is a book not to be missed by anyone interested in this tumultuous era of our world's history.
