To Hell and Back
Revisado: 04-14-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have recommended this book to several people. Cabrera did a fantastic job of taking you into the main characters, dismal, depressing reality of living in a post apocalyptic world. The first part of the book throws you into the abyss of the man's life, and the calloused despair that is now his life, such that you can't help but tangibly feel it yourself.
Then we are taken through the personal psyche of why he is who he is and we learn that he's just an average Joe like us, he's made bad decisions along the way, but under it all, he's a nice guy and tries to help out people when he can.
What about Erik Baker’s performance did you like?
I thought Baker did a fantastic job of conveying the true personality of the main characters and was critical in bringing a visceral experience of this world to the listener. Very few people could have pulled it off such that you could feel the anger, resentment, and finally the hope as well as Baker did in this book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Due to the length there is no way I could sit and listen to it all in one setting. However, I did listen to it during my daily commute for several days.

Historia
In 2079, a time travel experiment sends physicist Carmela Akronfleck further back in time than she'd intended. Though she's still in her small northern California town, the year is 1936 and she must learn to live without the technology she's come to rely on. Her neurological implants should be dormant, but she receives a cryptic message, periodically accompanied by an audio transmission from the future. It's the voice of her former psychotherapist, an android named Kass, stating his innocence in a series of murders.

Time traveling Murder Mystery
Revisado: 04-14-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would, and have, recommended this book to several others. The effort Pennington put into developing the story arcs and plot lines to ensure that the tangle of time travel all unfolded correctly is phenomenal. I can only imagine the intricacies of his storyboard as he mapped out the sequence of events to make the story resolve itself as desired. Well done!
Who was your favorite character and why?
It's hard to say which character I liked best, as they all had endearing qualities and equally less endearing sides to the characters, and I see that as a strength. However, I did find myself rooting for the android Kass, who was struggling to understand himself as a life form.
What does April Barrow bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
April brings a wide variety of voices which gives the sense of a high production undertaking without requiring a cast of half a dozen.

Unconventional Door Through Time
Revisado: 04-14-17
What made the experience of listening to Jessup's Door the most enjoyable?
I liked Bunker's new take on traveling through time. It was a nice blend of time travel sci-fi and a historical fiction.
What did you like best about this story?
I like that Bunker was able to take a story that started out sounding like a late in life budding romance story and turn it completely around into the beginnings of a sci-fi 'time jumpers' series.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.

New Blood to the World of Vampires!
Revisado: 10-29-15
What did you love best about Growing up Dead?
First I must say that I'm not really a regular vampire or YA reader, but I received a copy of the audio book as a gift and thought I would give it a try given Wilkey’s reputation on the street.
I finished listening to “Growing Up Dead” yesterday. Wow! Great story! I found myself looking forward to the next time I could carve out a few moments to listen to more of the unfolding story.
Wilkey provided a refreshing new take on the vampire story, history, and dynamics of their society, adding a new take to a genre that has lacked substantial, original creativity since the days of Anne Rice’s “Vampire Chronicles”.
While there are some elements of writing style which I do not necessarily prefer, that is okay as I am not the target audience, and it works well for the intended YA crowd. Of course I should reiterate that the power of the story itself was able to overpower the issues I've mentioned and I found it completely enjoyable, and I look forward to the next book!
Good job Mr. Wilkey, and keep up the good work!
