Historia
Did I think I was going to fall for my coach's daughter? The answer would be no. I'm still unclear on how I got into this predicament in the first place. A year ago, I was a man with one thought on his mind, the redhead I met at a hotel bar. Twelve months later, I found her. Unfortunately for me, she not only happens to be my very off-limits coach's daughter, but also . . . my new assistant and roommate.

favorite of the series so far! you'll definitely enjoy it more if you've read the other books in the series first, but it's not strictly necessary.

She joins a new online gaming guild led by a friendly healer named Otter. So that nobody gets the wrong idea, she calls herself Bogwitch. Otter is Aiden, a fifty-year-old optimist using the guild as an emotional outlet from his family drama caring for his aging mother while his brother plays house with Aiden’s ex-fiancée.

A little slow but very cute
Revisado: 12-19-24
Took a little to get into, but definitely a cute and cozy romcom that I liked by the end. I appreciated the author's positive and respectful treatment of queer and alternative characters while also keeping the story realistic that there's still a lot of fear and misinformation on the world, and people still learning about themselves over time.
The narrators were good overall, but did pause in weird places that made it sometimes feel disjointed. While not a story I'll come back to over and over in my brain, I liked reading it.

Declan & Kelsey are my favorite pairing so far. Fake-grumpy cinnamon-roll-who-will-kill-you falls first and hard for sunshine cinnamon roll who is learning she's as badass as she wants to be. with weenie dog sidekick perfection. *chef's kiss*

Historia
In Unmasking Autism, Dr. Devon Price shares their personal experience with masking and blends history, social science research, prescriptions, and personal profiles to tell a story of neurodivergence that has thus far been dominated by those on the outside looking in. For Dr. Price and many others, Autism is a deep source of uniqueness and beauty. Unfortunately, living in a neurotypical world means it can also be a source of incredible alienation and pain.

Great resource
Revisado: 05-08-24
A lot of my own experiences as a late diagnosed neurodivergent human was reflected in this book. Some of it was very painful, but some of it was validating in a way that bordered on funny at times. It's not perfect, nothing ever is, but I like how Devon really tried to make this a comprehensive synthesis that covered the intersectionality of experiences with autism.

4.5 rounded up
Revisado: 02-03-24
Parts of this story did get a bit slow, but overall it was an engaging story. Definitely more coming of age than romance, though there is a HFN. Gives an interesting look into DeafBlind life as well as interpreter professionalism vs. ethics and the place of human connection in professions like interpreting.

Historia
The many lives of theoretical physicist Elsie Hannaway have finally caught up with her. By day, she’s an adjunct professor, toiling away at grading labs and teaching thermodynamics in the hopes of landing tenure. By other day, Elsie makes up for her non-existent paycheck by offering her services as a fake girlfriend, tapping into her expertly honed people-pleasing skills to embody whichever version of herself the client needs. Honestly, it’s a pretty sweet gig—until her carefully constructed Elsie-verse comes crashing down.

Neurodivergent FMC in Academia HEA FTW
Revisado: 07-06-23
Though not explicitly stated to be neurodivergent, the FMC definitely fits the bill of some of the common neurodivergent types who are drawn to academia for any number of reasons. It was very refreshing it have some of the very common experiences, not only with romance as a neurodivergent person, but also that we deal with in academia be put into a story and dealt with... not always well, but realistically.
This will absolutely be a story I listen to over and over again.

Even from a young age, Owen knew his future would be a mostly solitary existence with a few brief encounters, one of which might one day result in a cub he would never watch grow and never bond with. He's not a wolf shifter with their fated mates and pack mentality. He's a bear, and bears live alone.

Good but not plot heavy
Revisado: 06-08-23
if you're looking for a book that is overall more spice than plot (in a good way!), this should be your jam. There is some plot, don't get me wrong, but none of the angst parts last more than a few minutes, nothing is extended over the course of the book really. Lots of spice, not a lot of details on the life outside that gets them there, and no secondary story/plot until very close to the end. Great for an unwinding read after work, definitely not sad about it. Just want you to know what you're getting!

And struggled to finish a 3rd.
This collection seems to have been put together because they were books that struggled individually for different reasons.
A Stone in the Sea was hard to finish, didn't really catch my attention with all the unnecessary angst. even the cliffhanger ending wasn't enough to make me want to find the 2nd book in the series.
intention was fine. Not crazy memorable, but I made it through without struggling.
DNF On My Way to You. The author obviously doesn't understand a lot of the cities she's having them start or road trip through, and it really pulled me out of the story.
Hero was good but a little longer than it needed to be. Was honestly the redeeming book for this anthology though. Good characters, appropriate angst for the situations.
DNF Meghan's book only because the female narrator thinks this is a breathless Victorian romance and it's too annoying to keep listening to.

Historia
She was my "what if" girl. The one I longed for. The one I tried to find again after she left for the other side of the world. Now, years later, fate has swept the only woman I’ve ever loved back into my life. With her intensity, her honesty, her passion, Annalise tries to break down my walls, because she’s the one who knew me before my family shattered. When we collide again, it's tender and savage, gentle and rough, and makes me hungry for more of this electric, once-in-a-blue moon kind of connection.

Not the worst, but not the best.
Revisado: 03-18-23
Honestly, struggled to finish this one (part 4) and the one before it. The mystery was the more intriguing part, but only maybe 15% of the story. The main characters kind of fell flat for me and the story dragged on. instead of a rollercoaster, it felt more like thinking going down a steep hill is akin to a roller coaster. Narrators we're great as always.
