Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Midnight Sun delivers
Revisado: 01-01-20
I listened to this book as a free Audible Original, and I'm glad I did. The sound quality was off in a couple of places, but not enough to interfere with the story. The narrator says he comes from a long line of story tellers, and he is able to continue that tradition in Midnight Son. Aside from frequent use of the F word, I really liked the authentic feel of this story. Worth the listen.

Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office.

Funny or disturbing?
Revisado: 07-08-17
When I first started listening to this book, I found it to be quite funny. Eleanor's personality is quirky, and her lack of ordinary social skills provides for humerous situations. However, as we move further into the plot, it becomes more and more disturbing. Still, there are secrets that keep you hanging on until the end.

Historia
Located off a desolate stretch of Interstate 50, Desperation, Nevada, has few connections with the rest of the world. It is a place, though, where the seams between worlds are thin. And it is a place where several travelers are abducted by Collie Entragian, the maniacal police officer of Desperation. Entragian uses various ploys for the abductions, from an arrest for drug possession to "rescuing" a family from a nonexistent gunman.

Desperation starts out great!
Revisado: 05-01-17
A great beginning and I was caught up in the story until about 3/4 through. I think this one was just too long and really lost interest in the end. In fact, I just finished it and couldn't even retell the ending. I like Stephen King, but this one just seemed to go on forever

Down in Mitford
Revisado: 04-20-14
I love Jan Karon's books, especially the Mitford series. The characters have become like old friends. The sense of wit and charm are welcomed and sometimes surprising. This particular novel in the series is a little more "down" that I have come to expect. More worries, sadness, and troubles. I am coming near the end of the series and am going to have to choose a time when I'm not driving to listen to "A Light from Heaven" as I'm sure it will bring tears

Easy listen, no drama
Revisado: 10-26-13
Although this is not the most exciting book in the world, I really enjoyed it. It made me laugh and cry. Most of the book is light humor, with a touch of poignancy. I listened to this on 35 minute commute every day and looked forward to it each time I got in my car. I'm going to download the next in the series.

I don't usually write reviews, but I just could not get away from this book! Great story, great reader. You really feel like you get to know the characters, but this one also had a great surprise ending. Loved it.

Surprisingly good
Revisado: 07-23-11
Coming from a Christian perspective, I found this book surprisingly good. It combines high fashion, the corporate workplace, and down - home values that prevail at the end. A good, light listen.
