Historia
Six months ago, the world watched in horror as we lost an American city. The Grinder. That's what the survivors of Tucson called the monster. Just one touch, and they became a part of it. It used their bodies as limbs and as weapons. In just a matter of hours, it became huge, a towering monstrosity made entirely out of tens of thousands of people and animals.

Disliked story. Disliked ending.

I’m a big Dungeon Carl fan. This was to see if I liked Dinnimans other work. Nope. Pretty much forced the entire book and didn’t like it at all. Not a fan of the narrator either.

As disappointing as the last season of game of thrones
Revisado: 11-12-20
Every book, I mean every book in this series left me wanting for more except this one. This one felt like it wasn’t even the same author. Bland, boring, not even interesting. I felt like it was the last season of game of thrones wrapped up in this book. I don’t think this is the last book in the series - but i may be done based on how much I disliked the storyline. I loved this series until this forced book. I really like the narrator, and don’t understand why people are complaining. Narration was awesome.

Too much time in between books, but good.

I'm not sure if it's becoming a standard for an entire series to hit Netflix, Hulu, etc where you can binge an entire season and not lose the momentum but I had to re-listen to book 9 before I could listen to this one and if I have to wait another 8 months while listening to at least 8 more storylines in other series... it's hard to be as entrenched with the interactions for the next one. I do like this series a lot, it's not without my gripes, but for the most part - love the action, the drama, the sci-fi, and storyline. I have a personal dislike of what I personally call the Captain America syndrome where they take a weak character and make them hulking, super buff, super intelligent lead character... I prefer a person to use their head without the need to take either an average or intelligent character and then make them into a football player... but that's me. Squanto is a nice addition to the series, and the imagery of the galactic center has my fingers crossed that the next book will go into detail about it. I'm pleased with the series and this doesn't stick out as the best book in the series but it is a nice continuation of the story and am interested in seeing where Larson takes us to in the next book. Note that there was some editing issues with Boyetts voice, at least as I got this book pre-order and so this is fresh off the digital recording but there were a few spots that had volume level issues or sounded like Boyette was too close to the microphone. On re-listening to other series, my guess it that this will be cleaned up at some point.

Great price, great trilogy! Worth a re-listen after I get done with The Ember Wars (by another author). Some of the characters and came to mind weeks after reading. It's a nice change up and different story line / reader than most of the SciFi that I've listened to and I am so glad that everyone gave honest reviews for me to make the choice to purchase.

Historia
They hunt us. They bomb our worlds for target practice. A star cluster in the constellation of Orion rotates once every 1,000 years. Those who rule there have an ancient tradition: When each cycle ends, they train their fleets by spilling the blood of lesser beings. The enemy fleets are coming again. In response, the Rebel Worlds gather their starships to face the terrifying threat, and this time humanity is asked to stand with them. The last time they considered Earth, Vikings in longboats were raiding English coastlines. Today, we're less primitive. Today, we're a target.

Starts our like his other books Star Force Series
Revisado: 09-26-17
BV Larson is a great sci-fi writer and I've enjoyed a lot of his writings. I highly recommend him as an author and how he writes. This book, however, was a little disappointing, with a very similar start to the storyline. It took about 3/4 of the way through before it started getting its own direction and story. Book 2 is good, but I felt that book one - Rebel Fleet - did not have enough difference to give a strong recommendation.

Couldn't listen to it. Too many sound effects, did not like how it was written or told. I love Star Wars and just about everything sci fi but stopped about a quarter of the way through this audio book. I'm more of a star force, undying mercenaries ,bobiverse kind of listener.

Historia
The folks in Mike Erikson's small New England town would say he's just your average, everyday guy. And that's exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

It's o.k. as long as you don't apply reason to it.
Revisado: 07-19-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It was enjoyable, and the reader does fantastic voices for each character... the story line is a little different than my usual listening choices and I wanted a change. I like the main character and the other characters too. Didn't get me into the story until about 1/3 of the way through the book but then was entertaining and light hearted. The end kind of collapsed on me with too many 'but these are gaping holes in the story line that couldn't have been possible'
Would you recommend The Fold to your friends? Why or why not?
It is a good change from Space Sci-Fi but I would recommend another story line as the end of this one didn't quite add up.
Which character – as performed by Ray Porter – was your favorite?
Mike is great, and there are two other secondary characters that are great too. Bob got the raw end of the stick.
Do you think The Fold needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Although it has the possibility the way it ends, it has closure. I would not purchase the next in this series if it came out.
Any additional comments?
I don't want to say too much to give away anything as spoilers so I will lightly say that this book was enjoyable until it had to make sense... (stop here if you don't want a spoiler to the end) the end of it was not possible as far as the changes in their lives after going through the portal and not being able to distinguish the changes earlier so that this book would have never happened... then it turns into 'the fog' at the end which has been done before. At no point did my heart race due to conflict... and the author must have gotten a kickback from referencing the Amazon kindle in the book since they are pretty much only good for reading, browsing and playing games and have no real computing power or that great of business software on them. Had a few chuckles in it which was nice.

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire series and the last book of the series was a great conclusion. I hate audiobooks with sound effects and this book does not have them. Mark Boyett has a great voice and his inflection and pronunciation is a great addition to an enjoyable story line. I've listened to the entire series twice in two years.
