The production quality of tis was poor: many times the voices were garbled or pitched too low to understand. The plot, near as I could figure it out, was tripe. I listen to these for the relationship dynamics and drama. Sex is good, but not without a decent plot, and in this case it seemed graphic sex was put in to make it long enough to make a book. Don't waste your credit. In an otherwise decent series, skip this one.

Since I'm on the road a lot, Audible books have become valued companions. Searching for this week's read, I chose this at random because other MC Club books have been fascinating diversions. I wasn't sure it would be good, but felt it was worth a try. And boy was it. The plight of a girl kidnapped into sex slavery immediately grabbed my attention and sympathy. Granted, all the adventure is really easily predicted, and the ending unrealistic. But as a bit of escape, it works really, really well.

Not your typical John Grisham -- and that's great!

I tired of Grisham's books years ago, but picked this up for another listen after many years. The story is still fresh, the narrator's voice and pacing is great for this story and I loved the cast of characters. I identified with the central character immediately, though it's a woman, because I've been downsized as well. She's not one for adventure, and yet is thrown into a life or death adventure almost immediately on her arrival at her new firm. There were characters I didn't like, but I enjoyed both her naivete and and her cynicism about relationships. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in seeing how someone adjusts to unexpected sharp turns in her life and career.

This story is an outstanding addition to the Thompson sisters, and Jack Wallen was a good narrator. Alana Rader, however, needs to slow down. It would be helpful if she knew what a period is for, and could reflect the emotions of the characters better. The writer penned a fantastic study of two individuals working through trauma and coming together; no simplistic formulas here. They each take a circuitous route to find each other and success in love and life.

What made the experience of listening to The Boss the most enjoyable?

Both the plot and the characterizations were well thought out and drawn, so that I could forget I was listening to a book and imagine I was hearing about real people

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sophie, of course. She was at times dingy, but at other times had a deep emotional maturity that I've found rare even among those older than 50.

Which scene was your favorite?

I can't pick just one, thought the wedding night D/s session was particularly hot.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, when Sophie's family met Niel; I had a similar experience introducing my bride to my family, though for different reasons. She was from another culture. The reaction, though, was eerily similar.

Any additional comments?

This story was far more than I expected, and I bought all the books when I was only half-way through the first. I knew then I would just have to finish it and find out the ending.

Where does Call of the American Wild rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best stories I've ever heard or read. The journey of an Scotsman searching for and finding himself by carving a year of life out of the Alaskan wilderness is dramatic and riveting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Call of the American Wild?

The most memorable scene was when he finally settled down and was alone in the wilderness, his first night, the reality of the challenge he had set for himself finally sank in, and he saw just how frail he was in contrast to the power of the wilderness around him.

Which scene was your favorite?

There were so many great scenes in this story, I can't find one favorite. One of the funniest is the scene in which he started learning to drive a team of sled dogs.
