I love monster stories but this author kills off everyone in unnecessary detail. it gets really tiresome. The readers Tobe reminds me of a carnival barker

I read/listened to almost all the Dresden books. This was the worst so far. Too long by half. Although the short Xmas story at the end was cute

Thought provoking and entertaining book

I loved this book. He did a great job describing past extinctions and the geologic history of earth while linking many of the past extinctions to the current carbon crisis. He does it with humor and a strange optimism (if not for us, for future life)

Survivalist Porn. No joy in this book

This is the most offensive novel I ever read. There is not one character to root for. Blatant racist crap. All government officials are corrupt (except the one that shot the black President). Hispanics & Blacks are like cartoons from Jim Crow and KKK days. I read a lot of apocalyptic novels with similar views but stated with a little class.

Too much preaching and anti UN propaganda

I love military sci-fi. I'm sure most read it looking for action and characters we can sympathize with. The author ruined the story with way too much internal dialog about the bond of warriors and the evil world government. Then the warrior turns into a Facist killer.

There is NO drama in this book

I was looking forward to post apocalyptic story that did not have to descibe every gun and the protagonist is special forces etc.. unfortunately this is a very tedious listen. Everything is perfect. They always make the right decision. The ONLY two bad characters CHOOSE to disappear with no struggle. The ending is
unbelievably dumb. It is well written but there's no point to it. I rarely post reviews but I wanted to warn you before you start.
