Historia
Gerrardsville, Colorado. One tragic event. Two witnesses. Two conflicting accounts. One witness sees a woman throw herself in front of a bus—clearly suicide. The other witness is Jack Reacher. And he sees what really happened—a man in grey hoodie and jeans, swift and silent as a shadow, pushed the victim to her death, before grabbing her bag and sauntering away. Reacher follows the killer on foot, not knowing that this was no random act of violence. It is part of something much bigger.

No more.
Revisado: 01-28-23
The last time I read a Reacher book written by a collaboration of Lee and Andrew I thought, ok, I don't like it but I'll give the team one more go. No Plan B was that go, and it's the last one I'll give. The story is weak and lacking any cohesion, the characters are repetitive and wooden, Reacher himself is a pathetic caricature of past outings, and I simply cannot be bothered finishing this book. Not even Jeff harding seems to be able to summon any enthusiasm for this one.
I have really enjoyed my journey with Jack None Reacher. I think I'll let us go our seperate ways before the bad taste in my mouth becomes permanent.
If you love Reacher, you'll hate his.

Historia
Sergeant Amy Callan and Lieutenant Caroline Cooke have a lot in common. Both were army high-flyers. Both were acquainted with Jack Reacher. Both were forced to resign from the service. Now they're both dead. Found in their own homes, naked, in a bath full of paint. Apparent victims of an army man. A loner, a smart guy with a score to settle, a ruthless vigilante. A man just like Jack Reacher.

Not my favourite Reacher book. I don’t know if it could be better with a different narrator but this one is terrible. Can we please have a Jeff Harding version?

Be careful, Mr Conelly
Revisado: 02-26-22
Before I comment on the book itself, I need to say this: I am a long time lover of Mr Connelly's work. Bosch, Haller, Jennifer and Ballard are some of my favourite characters in fiction. The stories are always cohesive and engaging. This book is no exception. However Mr Connelly risks alienating a large part of his readership by engaging in politics. In this book he makes a number of references to the Trump presidency as if he believes his readers agree with him and the Hollywood elites and Big Tech. Around 50% of us don't, and history is rapidly coming down on the side that says Trump did NOT lie, as alleged in this book.
History may also recall the Wuhan virus differently than the way Mr Connelly seems to see things.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course, But making flagrant claims, hidden in this case as being the opinions of Mr Haller, is fraught. I have pretty much every book you ever wrote, Mr Connelly, so I guess you already have my money, but I'll bet I'm not the only one who thinks introducing your political views is not in your best interest. I won't be discontinuing my reading of your novels, as Audible allows me to return them if I'm not pleased. BTW, I live in Australia, so my position on POTUS doesn't matter, but my position on TRUTH does.
Now, the book. Once again we have a court room drama, a genre in which Connelly excels. So nice to see Haller, Bosch, Cisco, Maggie, Lorna, Jennifer, and the two girls playing a big part in this one. Of all my Connelly characters, I reckon Mickey is my fave. Bosch is great but so focussed. Haller brings doubt to the legal process in Calif, something which is needed. John Lescroart Does this with his Dismass Hardy character ( check it out ), but Connelly does it better..
In the past I have always given this author's books a five. I would'd love to do so this time, but I do not like being talked at as if an alternative opinion does not matter.
Don't get so rich that you believe you are "elite", Mr Connelly. Life is not that long.

Revisado: 06-12-21
I was very disappointed with this. I enjoyed The Martian, Artemis was good, but Hail Mary seems to me to be nothing but a contractual obligation. Far too much nonsensical pseudo science, climate change preaching and way too little story. Mr Weir has lost me and I’m returning this book.

Killing Floor is the first book in the phenomenal best-selling Jack Reacher series by Lee Child. It introduces Reacher for the first time, as the tough ex-military cop of no fixed abode. Trained to think fast and act faster, he is the perfect action hero for when times get tough.

As a former San Francisco detective, he misses more meaningful work, but he hasn’t had the heart for it since his wife’s death five years prior. By the time he reaches the mother’s small home, she’s missing, too. The circumstances are strange....

immature and disappointing.
Revisado: 03-01-20
I wanted this to be good. It promised so much, but ultimately it is immature tripe. The premise is fine, the plot is maybe OK but it seems all the time to be trying too hard, like the first book of a teenager. RC Bray gives a workmanlike performance, but instills no passion, which seems to be his usual style.
I rarely return books, but this one is going back.

Ruined
Revisado: 07-03-19
Like all the Hardy novels, this title is a great story of the Law in SF. However, the relentless machine gun monotony of the narration totally ruins it. Robert Lawrence gives the characters absolutely nothing, and his pacing is awful. Could we please have David Colacci read it? I would probably even buy the book again.

Detective Renée Ballard is working the graveyard shift again and returns to Hollywood Station in the early hours only to find that an older man has snuck in and is rifling through old file cabinets. The intruder is none other than legendary LAPD detective Harry Bosch, working a cold case that has gotten under his skin. Ballard kicks him out, but eventually Bosch persuades her to help, and she relents.

A terrible disappointment.
Revisado: 11-06-18
Wow. A new Michael Connelly. Bosch and Ballard. I was so looking forward to this. I'm sure it's a great story, as Connelly hasn't let me down yet. But I'll have to get a paper copy to find out, as the reading is terrible. I simply could not listen all the way through. Using a male/female combo this way is merely a gimmick. It might have worked if Christine had read the female speaking parts, but no. When will directors realise that women simply cannot do males voices? Furthermore, breaking the book up into segments means that neither reader gets involved. They are merely reading aloud, they are not telling a story.
I have never returned a Michael Connelly book. I AM returning this one. It is not worth the listening effort. I'll get the kindle version instead.

Revisado: 10-25-18
I was excited when I saw this title on Audible. I haven't read it for maybe 20 years, but it is classic. I read other reviews, and grabbed it. Well, others have praised Tim Robbins' performance, but I'm afraid I couldn't get past the first chapter. To me it is lifeless, and I'm not going to spoil my memory of this book by persevering with a poor reading of it.

United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

Repetitive and formulaic.
Revisado: 08-26-18
I was really enthused by the first two books in this series. At last, a fresh take on an alien theme, with likeable characters and believable aliens. The story cracked along, and Bray's reading is great.
Then, as many others have said, it has bogged down into some sort of literary infinite loop. I'm tipping Craig Alanson signed a contract for a specific number of books, and is just filling the pages in a cut and paste style.
I've had enough. I'll wait until he concludes this series, read the reviews and then maybe buy the last book to see how he ends it. Sad really, because Joe Bishop and Skippy showed a lot of promise.. But a trilogy would have been a far better experience for mine.
