Great Ending
Revisado: 06-27-21
I'm going to miss the characters of this great series as much as I'm going to miss Rachel's writing. The world is a dimmer place without her, and I'm saddened that we won't get to experience more.

Wonderful world building and unique story.
Revisado: 06-26-16
June Stevens's writing was on point, and the narrator was easy to listen to.
Stevens did a great job building the world of Nash City. It is probably my favorite Urban Fantasy world. As I listened to this story I could see the settings and people. I also really loved that this was a completely new take on dystopian societies with the added bonus of the urban fantasy. I related to the characters, though a few times I wanted to slap Fiona for her stubbornness. It was an endearing stubbornness, though.
I really enjoyed not only getting to know the characters that were the focus of this book, but the secondary characters of the books to follow. It has made me eager to pick up the next in the series. I'm personally really excited to read about River's story, though I am very fond of Anya's sass. I feel like I'd be friends with all three of them.
Even though this is a very dynamic world Stevens has built, it is not one that the reader gets lost in. It is easy to keep up with the scenery and people, and you do not get overloaded with information that you forget where you are and who you're with.
This was definitely a 5-star listen and I recommend this book to any fan of dystopian and/or urban fantasy. The romance is steamy, but is not the main focus of the story.

After seeing her maybe-mobster boss murder a guy, Delaney James assumes a new identity and pretends to be a mail order bride. She finds her groom-to-be living in a town that celebrates Halloween every day. Weird. But not as weird as what she doesn't know. Her groom-to-be is a 400-year-old vampire.

Fantastic Story with a Fantastic Narrator
Revisado: 11-29-15
Kristen is a very witty person, and while I knew already knew that, some authors cannot, or do not, translate that well into written word. Kristen can. This book wasn't too heavy, there was just enough notes of serious to keep it from being corny. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The narrator has a very interesting voice. I haven't heard a male narrator that sounded even a little like he did, but it worked so well for the story. I could easily tell which character was speaking dialogue, he put on superb accents, and he has this kind of up-speak that I actually liked.
Easy 5 stars for me.

Thrust into his world of ultra-popular rich kids, Zoe is out of her element and caught in the crosshairs of Logan's suspicious ex-girlfriend and the friends he left behind - each of whom had a reason to want him dead.

Totally wrecked in the best possible way.
Revisado: 06-23-15
I have no words that can describe how I felt after finishing this book. I never thought I'd fall in love with a ghost, but somehow I managed to. After finishing this book, I promptly bought the rest of the books that were available by Sherry Ficklin.
Zoe is such an easy character to get along with. Her and Logan's relationship, and the growth of both characters throughout the book, were written in such a masterful way that it felt real. The two of them together were so natural you would almost forget one of them was dead.
Once I got to the end of the story (just before the Epilogue) I was literally curled up in a ball in my favorite reading spot sobbing. I literally was hiccuping and had shaky breaths. I had to keep taking breaks to wipe my face dry. Once I got in the epilogue I thought it would be better. It was. I got plenty of closure. But I still managed to feel totally wrecked (in the best way).
I can't wait to break open Haunting Zoe to get a bit of a different perspective on the story.

Captivating tale of deceit and manipulation.
Revisado: 06-23-15
I don't think there are enough words in the English language that could accurately describe my feelings about this story. Queen of Someday is gripping right from the beginning, and is an adventure right to the end.
Princess Sophie's character arc in just the first installment was masterful. To be able to see how she went from a really nice, though somewhat awkward girl, to a master manipulator that rivals the Empress was fascinating.
Sherry did an amazing job building this world. Even the secondary characters are all memorable. There are so many of them that have integral roles, yet I had no trouble remembering who each person was and what part they played in this story.
I plan to immediately delve into the next in the series, Queen of Tomorrow, which is out soon! I would recommend this book to anyone 16 years of age and older (possibly even 13 years old, depending on their maturity level). Brilliant.
The narrator of this audiobook was absolutely amazing. I wanted to curl up under a blanket with some hot tea and wooly socks, and it is 90 degrees outside. She perfectly set the tone for the story from the beginning, and throughout.

Enjoyable and fun.
Revisado: 10-12-14
There were quite a few aspects to this story that I just loved. The inner dialogue of the main character is spot on for a curvy woman. I really enjoyed that her personality was relatable and realistic. I liked the story so much that I Wish there were more to it. I am secretly (not so secretly now) hoping that later on the author will write their backstory and release it. I loved the little tidbits of their history that we got a glimpse of, and think their story could be just as good.
I also found the narrator enjoyable. Her voice is soft, not harsh, so headphones weren't a bother. The only problem I had with her was when she was reading in the male perspective/dialogue. It wasn't bad by any means, but when she would speak in a deeper voice to help differentiate between male and female characters it just made me giggle, which was slightly distracting.
I received a coupon code from the publisher for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
