The first few chapters contain wonderful practical ways to focus, remember prayer needs, and regularly pray each day. The remainder of the book challenged me to pray more like Paul…more God-relational, less petitionary, more future maturing request, for
The church, the community and world needing Christ.

Great story woven in between authors rambling

We listened to this story as we wandered in Arches and Canyonlands staying in Moab. The story helped see the beauty of the parks and surrounding area AND a desire that it remain protected from visitors.

At times the author was annoying and opinionated it seemed more for effect than from belief (based on his treatment of other humans).

As is many flawed books, listening to a good editor can be helpful.

That said read the book and hurry over his ramblings on the world.

I loved the story. After researching the Owens, I am more skeptical of some of the stories. For example, one story of a lion kill by hunters was based on evidence on the ground and the authors guess based on evidence not on observation of the animals last hours.

The Owens seemed to have been asked to leave or left the country voluntarily which is not mentioned in book. Later, they left Zambia hurriedly and later several articles were written about the aggressive actions by Mark Owens to curb poaching.

After knowing more about their story, I began to wonder as I read how much was written to heighten interest and support for their work.

Best book on relational evangelism I’ve read

Practical, insightful, actionable. Finally a book that can be used as a basis for evangelism other than the Bible of course.

Too much

Good mystery but too much time in telling with a too storybook ending. But i am not much for fiction and haven’t read too many romance novels if any.

Great insight into misreading Bible

The authors challenged me with the way I have read the Bible all my life. I highly recommend the book.

I however would caution the tendency to take one possible way to interpret and make it the right way. The section on David and Bathsheba is the longest section on any one section of scripture. And I understand the authors point but am not sold on drawing the conclusion they draw, for example.

They use Indonesian culture often as examples of different ways of thinking than the Western culture and at times let those beliefs bleed into interpretation of pre-Christ Jewish culture. Still a good read.
