Asians in MN! I loved it. The vivid sounds of Northern Minnesota totally took me there, and I was hooked into the mystery.

Pretty good
Revisado: 03-05-23
It's a short and sweet mystery.
In the end the loose ends were tied and everything clicked, so that was satisfying.
The narration threw me off at first, but was alright overall.
Didn't expect the moose!

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

A Story About Brave Men
Revisado: 03-05-23
The men who were part of Ernest Shackleton's expedition were certainly tough and resilient. They faced extreme conditions, including sub-zero temperatures, hurricane-force winds, and months of darkness, which would have tested even the strongest individuals.
Despite these challenges, the crew managed to endure and survive for over a year in one of the most inhospitable environments on Earth. They showed remarkable perseverance, resourcefulness, and courage in the face of extreme adversity.
It's important to note that the expedition was also a product of its time, with a prevailing culture of masculinity that emphasized physical strength and endurance. This undoubtedly influenced the selection of crew members and the expectations placed upon them. However, regardless of the cultural context, the men who were part of the expedition demonstrated incredible bravery and resilience in the face of danger and hardship.

Thank you for making my shift fly by with tons of laughter. It's rare that I find something so genuinely humourous.
There are lots of other reviews already describing everything good about this production, so I'll just say: five stars!

Good Stuff
Revisado: 02-04-23
An entertaining two and a half hour mind movie.
I like horror stories and this was right up my alley.
I like that they didn't drag it out. The pace was good and the dialogue was to the point.
The sound design is superb, as with all audible originals.

Mixed feelings
Revisado: 02-03-23
I loved the build up, the narration was on point, but that isn't the ending that I was expecting.
It's pretty vague about the technicalities of the show, and leaves room to wonder.
If this was the first episode of a series then I would understand, but this way I'm left looking for answers myself, none of which are satisfactory.
Still pretty good though.

Wow
Revisado: 10-01-21
I am only 5 hours in and I feel like I've already gone through an entire novel worth of reading.
Truly the work of a master.
Will update as I keep listening.
Edit: I've finished the book, after listening to it for hours at a time. I'm delightfully satisfied by everything in this intricate story. No cheap thrillers here, all raw and complex. I can see why this is considered to be Mr. Steinbeck's masterwork creation. The allegories to Genesis are entrancing. Steinbeck's ultimate point is that our human story began long ago, and although we have free will, we are doomed and blessed to repeat history in one way or another.

The story delicately balances the concerns of the Mellstock parish choir with a romance between Dick Dewy, a member of the choir, and Fancy Day, the village schoolmistress. While the choir battles for its survival against the new vicar's mechanical church organ, personal conflicts arise over the anachronistic customs of tradition.

I have a problem with the narrator.
Revisado: 06-30-21
His voice is so soothing that I often found myself drifting away in meditation instead of paying attention.
Thankfully the story compliments this reading, as it is light, and filled with general wisdoms and situations.
I might re-listen to this book, simply because it is so pleasant. At times reminiscent of J. R. R. Tolkein's Shire.

Historia
Often called the greatest novel ever written, War and Peace is at once an epic of the Napoleonic wars, a philosophical study, and a celebration of the Russian spirit. Tolstoy's genius is clearly seen in the multitude of characters in this massive chronicle, all of them fully realized and equally memorable.

The Reader Is Unbearable
Revisado: 06-27-21
The Narrator often uses this annoying pretentious throat voice that sounds like an old man in pain on his deathbed. At first I thought it was only in joke, or maybe just for this one character (the prince). But then he kept re-using it in later chapters too, and with prominent figures, like a general for example.
Not only this, there are also variances in volume, and intonations that give me a headache. Just read the text normally, please! There's no need to add your personality, it's not about you.
All these factors combined make the story sound like a satire, or a comedy sketch, which is a terrible image for a classic work.
unfortunate, will have to look for a different production.

Historia
Following Jane from her childhood as an orphan in Northern England through her experience as a governess at Thornfield Hall, Charlotte Brontë's Gothic classic is an early exploration of women's independence in the mid-19th century and the pervasive societal challenges women had to endure. At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. Rochester, with whom she shares a complicated relationship that ultimately forces her to reconcile the conflicting passions of romantic love and religious piety.

A bit too melodramatic for me, but good.
Revisado: 06-02-21
I've felt sincere sympathy for Jane's trying and assessing life. She has proven again and again of her resoluteness and strength of character in a time when women were considered to be inferior to men. She is bold, but submissive. Assertive, yet selfless. She is passionate and emotional, yet exhibits incredible self control and reserve. She is intelligent and capable, polite and virtuous.
She is so much faithful and conservative that I was taken aback by some of her decisions and actions. Being the atheist that I am I was infuriated by her stubbornness at a certain point. Can she not put aside an unjust vow for the sake of the happiness and well being of herself and the one she loves? But to her that is not a mere trifle, for she is a saint, and a firm believer in the divine law.
I was pleased to know however, that no matter the tragedy and despair that ensued, justice eventually was delivered, if not by providence itself.

A good listen for horror lovers
Revisado: 05-08-21
I liked all four stories, but the second one in particular stuck with me.
I'll just say, don't expect any justice.
There are one or two jump scares, and the sounds are sometimes so eerie that I felt like someone might be behind me, though I actually liked those parts.
