Historia
Augusta Ballinger was quite sure that it was all a dreadful mistake. The chillingly pompous and dangerously disturbing Earl of Graystone could not possibly wish to marry her. Why, it was rumored that his chosen bride must be a veritable model of virtue. And everyone knew that Augusta, as the last of the wild, reckless Northumberland Ballingers, was a woman who could not be bothered by society's rules.

Narcissistic Hero
Revisado: 10-22-23
I love Amanda Quick but every once and a while she creates a romantic hero who is everything but a hero. Harry, unfortunately, is a narcissistic gaslighter. Every time the heroine confronts him on his abusive behavior he convinces her that she’s imagining things or over reacting or his actions are somehow her fault. I became so frustrated with this happening again and again. It’s a shame. The plot, the heroine, and the other characters, are very entertaining. So much so that they almost carried me past the self absorbed hero. But in the end I just couldn’t get past his abuse of the heroine. I’m sure at the time this story took place his behavior was acceptable but romance readers are not from that time and so we expect more from our romantic heroes. At least this reader does.

Worth Repeating
Revisado: 09-15-22
I just discovered Regine Abel and have already purchased extra credits to buy all of her available audiobooks. Now I’m re-listening to her series. I LOVE this book and all of them actually. Haven’t read a book by this author that I didn’t love. I went to her site and discovered there are more books in this series published but they’re not audiobooks yet. Normally I only “read” audiobooks because I can multitask, but I’m seriously thinking of taking the time to sit down and read her ebooks because I can’t wait for audiobooks to be made out of them.

Childhood Sweethearts
Revisado: 08-14-22
I fell in love with the hero and heroine within the first few paragraphs. They meet as children in an orphanage and show each other the love and care and kindness that no one else shows them. They both rescue the other at the start and that bond between them is so strong that it overcomes all of the trauma and heartbreak that waits for them in their future.
I have reread this book many times. It’s on my top ten list of all time favorites because it gives me all the feels. I could go on and on but don’t want to give spoilers. Highly recommend.

Disrespectful not Dominant
Revisado: 08-14-22
I’m all in on dominant males and this book started out hot and heavy, but as soon as they left the bedroom and the heroine wanted to use her skill set (and she was extremely competent), the hero turned into an absolute a**hat and physically restrained her from doing what she had training and experience doing. If he really was concerned about her safety he should’ve had her back while she did what she was good at not treat her like a possession.
After that I wanted the heroine to deny his claim, return his collar, and let another male try out to be her mate. Sorry but there’s a BIG difference between being dominant and being disrespectful and controlling. The hero’s repugnant behavior completely ruined the read, and I returned the book without finishing the story. There were so many other ways for the author to create tension and trouble in the story without turning the hero into a villain. I’m so disappointed. I was really enjoying the story until the hero started in with his abusive behavior and the heroine “pouted like a little girl”. Yuck.

Good story bad storyteller
Revisado: 05-25-21
I love this series. The narrator on this one ruined this book for me. He talked so fast. Even when I slowed it down he didn’t pause between sentences or characters. The reading was very nearly monotone and the sentences all ran together. This made it difficult to follow the story let alone enjoy it. I had to stop within the first chapter. Disappointed.

Ten things I hate about this romantic hero
Revisado: 08-03-20
1. As shallow as a thirteen year old boy in a baby pool.
2. As mature as a thirteen year old boy growing his first mustache.
3. As bratty as a thirteen year old boy that’s never heard “no”
4. As self absorbed as a — you get the idea.
5. As entitled as a straight, white...
6. As cowardly as a...that passes off hard decisions on everyone else.
7. As romantic as a...in a crowd of other boys.
8. As thoughtless as a...on Mother’s Day.
9. As petulant and whiny as—not even 13–like a five year old boy.
10. As obtuse as a—playing video games.
At 13, the heroine is has more maturity, bravery, and all of the other qualities the hero still lacks as a full grown man whose gone to war and travelled the world.
I understand how the heroine as a young girl might have a crush on him but after he’s abandoned her for five years? Why in the world would she want him back. She should’ve moved on year three when she was ready to be married.
The reason I was attracted to this book was the title so it’s funny how the hero couldn’t embody “The Guardian” less. There is nothing in him to admire and I can’t relate to the heroine because she admires this POS so much.
Didn’t finish the book. Couldn’t.

All Time Favorite
Revisado: 07-29-20
I have a lot of favorite books but this has been at the top of my list since its release. The kindle copy is fantastic but the audiobook can’t be beaten.
I’ve listened to Marrying Winterborne—I’ve lost count—more than 20 times at least. I have parts of it memorized. The characters are endearing. The narrator is a gifted voice actor. The story is sweet and romantic and exciting.
Lisa Kleypas is incapable of writing a bad book. The rest of her books in this series are good but Marrying Winterborne is the best. Chasing Cassandra is my second favorite in this series so check out that one too.

Hero vs villain
Revisado: 07-24-20
The hero is far less than heroic. I found myself hoping again and again that the heroine escaped him and found someone better.
How the heroine could be attracted to someone who treats her like crap I don’t know. The author compares the hero to the villain who beat the heroine nearly to death. Is that all the reader can ask of a hero? At least he won’t hit her? Yuck.

Anticlimactic
Revisado: 01-20-20
I was really looking forward to Tex’s story. He’s such a great character in the other books in the series. And I like his book...but it just left me kind of meh. I was expecting a bigger, better, more exciting tale. He’s been such a centerpiece to the series I’m surprised the other characters didn’t show up more in his story. Maybe I just built him up so big in my head that my expectations for this book could not be met by such a simple storyline.

Wonderful Werewolves
Revisado: 04-14-18
I started with the Mercy Thompson series and still buy every book in that series as they’re released but I love the Alpha and Omega series as much if not a little more because of the relationship between Anna and Charles as well as the chance to get to know Bran better.
This is the beginning of their story and while it is a novella or short story it is well worth the read and ticks all of my fantasy romance boxes.
This is one book (and series) that I have reread countless times and it never ever gets old.
