Historia
A missing eye. A broken wing. A stolen country. The last job didn't end well. Years go by, and scars fade, but memories only fester. For the animals of the captain's company, survival has meant keeping a low profile, building a new life, and trying to forget the war they lost. But now the captain's whiskers are twitching at the idea of evening the score.

Enjoyed immensely, could maybe be a bit longer?
Revisado: 02-12-23
Really enjoyed the story. It’s basically redwall meets magnificent seven. I like that it was shorter, but I think the story could’ve used a BIT more fleshing out. Altogether a fun few hours :)

Good urban western
Revisado: 07-31-22
So far I think I like Mistborn better, but I’m really enjoying this series as well. Wax and Wayne have a great dynamic and the world feels like it’s progressed in a natural but cool way. If you like shoot-em-ups with fun and likable characters, you’ll have a good time.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Epic and heartfelt at the same time
Revisado: 07-25-17
Loved this book!! The scope is absolutely breathtaking and you truly feel like you're in a well thought out world with its own culture and beliefs. It's smart, delving into philosophy and morality in interesting and entertaining ways. It's also surprisingly heartfelt, with many moments of humor, as well as heartbreak. Also appreciated the use of two different voice actors for the men and women's perspectives. The only complaint i have is that the man's voice was not as versatile as it could have been with such a variety of characters. This is very nitpicky, and it's still very easy to follow along in the story. This book is LOTR in its scope and wisdom, and The Name of the Wind in its humor and wit. Truly, I can't recommend this book enough. Treat yourself.

Historia
Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

Made magic whiny
Revisado: 03-27-17
This book had the potential to be awesome, but somehow the author managed to make it whiny and boring. Books like Harry Potter or The Name of the Wind treat magic and the learning thereof interesting. The Magicians gets close at times, but it ultimately keeps devolving into whiny tangents about how, even though the character is experiencing all these amazing things, it's not good enough. It kept reminding me of a petulant child complaint that they didn't get EXACTLY what they wanted for their birthday. That said, the narration was fairly well executed, and I couldn't bring myself to finish the story, so maybe it gets better towards the end. However, 2/3 into the book I kept waiting for it to pick up and stop sounding like an angsty high schooler and it never did. Not the worst read, but if you have a hunger for magic and adventure, there are lots of other books that can fill that need for you.

Historia
Roland Deschain and his ka-tet are bearing southeast through the forests of Mid-World, the almost timeless landscape that seems to stretch from the wreckage of civility that defined Roland's youth to the crimson chaos that seems the future's only promise. Followers of Stephen King's epic series know Roland well, or as well as this enigmatic hero can be known. They also know the companions who have been drawn to his quest for the Dark Tower: Eddie Dean and his wife, Susannah; Jake Chambers; and Oy.

Great story, narrator not as good
Revisado: 09-29-16
It's a wonderful story and a nice edition to the Dark Tower series. Only complaint is that some of the voices of the character can sound fairly similar and that can be confusing. Other than that, great buy.

Historia
In this fourth volume, Roland, Eddie, Susannah, and Jake survive Blaine the Mono's final crash, only to find themselves stranded in an alternate version of Topeka, Kansas, one that has been ravaged by the superflu virus. While following the deserted I-70 toward a distant glass palace, Roland recounts a story about a seaside town called Hambry, where he fell in love with a girl named Susan Delgado, and where he and his old tet-mates Alain and Cuthbert battled the forces of John Farson.

Wonderful Story, Audio mediocre
Revisado: 08-07-16
This series is becoming one of my all time favorites and this book is no slouch in the collection. The story is sweeping and the characters mesmerizing. The narrator does a masterful job breathing life into King's creations and I found that I could listen to this audio book for hours on end. My only complaint is with the audio itself. The audio would abruptly cut at times, leaving an awkward silence and then come right back in as if it didn't happen. Not a big complaint, but it did have a tendency to take me out of the story at times. Overall a great purchase and would recommend to anyone reading the series!
