Historia
Daniel Martin has never forgotten his childhood encounters with Frank Watkins, the man who built his family a summer home out of cardboard and plywood. Frank's gaze was oddly confusing, as if he was attempting to discern the proper way to behave because he didn't know how to respond in a human manner. Since Frank obviously wasn't an alien, young Daniel thought maybe the man was crazy. In the end, Daniel would learn the terrifying truth about Frank Watkins. And as an adult, Daniel is about to discover there are more of them out there.

I could see this being a series
Revisado: 09-19-22
I couldn't see this being a series along. scary show lines of channel, zero, American horror story, hemlock Grove etc. It needs to have some more conflict for as long as it is. seems that sounded like they should be very scary. just couldn't be that scary with the narrator. Everything he reads just makes him sound like a teenager. But it is a good story, it has a good plot, although it takes 3/4 the book to figure it out. And they skip over it pretty quick. so you can't pick up that it's the heart of what's going on. almost a haunting of Hill House feel. The author describes the big bad pretty well and manifesting it visually makes it pretty damn creepy. . unfortunately, it's only the last part you get that glimpse.

Read & Listened & Love them All!
Revisado: 03-03-22
This is a fantastic series and the narrator nails the characters! I was starting to lose hope in audiobooks and this fully revived me. whenever I'm bored and don't have the time to find another new book series, I look to this one again I just start re-listening to it in the background and remember why it is in my Top 5 favorite books of all time. it's sarcastic, realistic, very much a 'laugh out loud in public '-listen, all the characters tied together very well and the main character is super quirky, The colorful dialog between the main character w/ any of her relationships or adversaries is laugh out loud, worthy and easily envisioned mentally. The narrator really helps bring this together, but the author does a fantastic job pulling all the characters into the plot with just enough background. This is one of those book series that you want spinoffs and to know more about each character's background. I can easily see this being a series. This is a narrator. I do. enjoy and between the book world and her style of narration, this is a perfect movie in my head every time I listen. I really hope that Amy McFadden records the last audiobook. I need more marnie!

Lots of stories connecting and coming full circle to make a big picture! Loved it. Actually cried at one part as a mother. Totally imagining Matthew McConaughey as the “nice man“. Lol
Great narrator.

Fantastic book! Stick w/ it! It expresses BOTH sides evenly.
Revisado: 11-11-20
Just what I needed. Women, if you’re trying to get your husband to open up or see your point of view and how you are different, this is it! And, if your having trouble seeing his point of view, (especially for a typical busy, alpha male) this can help too!
We are different, we feel differently, and this explains everything from conditioning, chemistry, hormones, and our inner workings.
I’ve read this three times now. It takes a while to let it sink in, we are hard headed.
I can’t say my partner fully gets it yet, but this is a start.
I do recommend starting the book when your not fighting, or fully hostile towards each other....but rather I prior to marriage, at lower points, and when you have had ur breathing room but still thinking about throwing in the towel.
It’s an eye opener. I have read 3 in the past month, and been listing to a lot of pod casts.
By far, this helped more.

It was OK but it seemed more like a filler than an actual case. I really don’t know how to describe it but I just miss her cases that she worked. That’s what drew me to the series.

Thank GOD!! They changed the Narrator! YES!!
Revisado: 02-26-19
I have really liked the story and some of the characters and as far as having a fast-paced fast action with a little long detailed backgrounds, the storyline and books have been pretty good. But it has always killed me the way that the person reading the books did them. Every single sentence and word was said with urgency and annoyance like The main character could never believe or get a handle on her situation from the moment she woke up to the mom and she triumphed. It just constantly bothered me.
Lauren fortang is one of my favorite narrators and the fact that she took over this series makes me very happy. She’s great as the spider with elemental assassin’s and she’s fantastic in the new series too. So happy she is taking this over. Makes it so much more tolerable and definitely increases my interest in this series.

Historia
In a realm where one’s magical power determines one’s worth, Lady Everleigh’s lack of obvious ability relegates her to the shadows of the royal court of Bellona, a kingdom steeped in gladiator tradition. Seventeenth in line for the throne, Evie is nothing more than a ceremonial fixture, overlooked and mostly forgotten. But dark forces are at work inside the palace. When her cousin Vasilia, the crown princess, assassinates her mother the queen and takes the throne by force, Evie is also attacked, along with the rest of the royal family.

Many of the same things Gin Blanco has
Revisado: 10-15-18
The story is very good it builds up to a great ending a little stereo typical, and if you read any of the elemental assassin/Jen Blanco series you’ll find so many similarities down to some of the same names, powers (ice), special abilities/ talents(cooking) and concepts. But overall, still super happy with it.

I salvage what they cannot. I'm on the FBI's wanted list. I have a werewolf for a pet, a Witch of a best friend, and no need for anyone else in my life. Books is good, narrator not so much
Revisado: 09-29-18
The books are OK, kind of PG-13. They wrap up conflict pretty fast. I think I would actually enjoy this book series much more if person narrating the stories didn’t talk in the same tone for every character and constantly spoke like they were annoyed with everything, or in a rush. Every scene, even the passionate ones or sad ones, still sound like the character is annoyed. I also have to speeded up to a 1.25 to get it at a regular reading pace.

Again...all relationships issues
Revisado: 08-13-18
If your hoping for a new big bad, and less drama...sorry. No dice. 13/15 hours of this new story are all relationship /poly/sex/back story.
The fight seen is literally the last 15 minutes.
Very disappointing. 3-4 sex scenes, lots of relationship back and forth banter, tons of Anita inner dialogue on feelings, pretty much NO Jean Claude except in the beginning for a chapter or two, saying the four horseman get together and go hunting is a joke,(if you are hoping for more with that like everyone is, you are SOL) and most of all, the new “big bad”....isn’t really part of the story, it’s in there for about as much as the four horseman...which is....a few lines like background noise to Anita’s relationships.
How the book can actually be described the way it is as a new big bad story is insulting.
I really wish the author would stop putting her personal life reflection into her books. It’s very sad that 1/2 or 3/4 of the last few, or perhaps several Anita Blake novels are just all about her personal relationships and sex. The big bad Marshall is gone.
