Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Loved the Narrator & Characters
Revisado: 06-03-22
This book was thoroughly enjoyable. The writing was so interesting, it completely sucks you in. The character development is well done. The dialog the characters have between themselves is thought Provoking. Love, love, love the narration. I can’t wait for 2.

I feel like I’m binge watching a fantastic series on Netflix. I even looked ahead to see how many are left. I will be so sad when the series ends!
I love the character development. It’s so nice to have books where there are good people to route for.
Keep’em coming.

Everywhere Katie Brenner looks, someone else is living the life she longs for, particularly her boss, Demeter Farlowe. Demeter is brilliant and creative, lives with her perfect family in a posh townhouse, and wears the coolest clothes. Katie’s life, meanwhile, is a daily struggle—from her dismal rental to her oddball flatmates to the tense office politics she’s trying to negotiate. No wonder Katie takes refuge in not-quite-true Instagram posts, especially as she's desperate to make her dad proud.

This book was very lighthearted. Easy read and made me smile a lot. The message is one that it never hurts to reminded of. The characters were relatable and likable. I’ll be listening to more of Sophie Kinsella’s books. This was my first and I’m glad I found her.

It sounds so simple: Tell stories from your life, and people will remember your message. But when you get down to crafting one, there's nothing easy about it. Material for stories surrounds us. Yet few people are skilled at sharing personal anecdotes and even fewer know how to link them to professional goals. Whether you want to stand out in the interview process, add punch to a presentation, or make a compelling case for a new initiative, Let the Story Do the Work shows you how to mine your experience for simple narratives that convey who you are.

A few good take aways
Revisado: 09-15-18
I would reorder this book if a different narrator were to read the book. This is not a novel and the narrator tried to read it like it was. I realized the actual content was worth listening to so I upped the speed of the reader to 1.25 and I was able to make it to the end. I'm not trying to be hurtful, I'm certain with the right book the narrator would have been fine. I found it a bit ironic that the book states more than a few times to "know your audiance."

Message was great!
Revisado: 01-27-17
I give this four stars only because the narrator read the book as if I were a preschooler in Sunday school. I am not being a hater. The content of the book was well written and I would read any other book written by the author. You can' t do everything great. Let someone else read your book. if you do I would I would purchase it again. This was hard to listen to. Hey maybe you were tricking me into buying the book.

One thing about these books they were quite violent. The story was very clever but at times hard to stomach all the head chopping.
