The lessons or better- shared discoveries in this book are grounded and sound. The narrator’s cadence and tone exemplify the discoveries. The goal in life should be to truly live. A long life is a welcomed outcome.

Excellent teen parenting guide
Revisado: 05-05-24
Parenting is such hard work. This easy read/listen provides many helpful suggestions delivered through relatable personal and professional examples. The information about brain development and psycho-social context are exceptionally helpful and very comprehendible. I felt validated and encouraged when hearing familiar parenting struggles through the teen (and into young adulthood) developmental stages.

Historia
Being the parent of a gender-questioning child is confusing. There have been many books for parents who are facilitating a child's gender transition, but almost none for parents who decide that social or medical transition is not the best option for their child. Written by three professionals working in the field - Sasha Ayad, Lisa Marchiano and Stella O'Malley - When Kids Say They're Trans is explicitly a resource for parents who want their children to flourish, but do not believe that hasty medicalisation is the best way to ensure long-term health and well-being.

An essential read
Revisado: 10-24-23
I am a mother of a rapid onset trans-identifying teen and a primary care clinician with nearly 30 years of professional experience. I have found myself completely shocked at the lack of critical thinking around the exponential increase in trans kids, biological females in particular. I have long asked ‘what’s going on?’ Only to be hushed and ‘othered’ by social progressives in my community. Reading this book has helped me regain my confidence as a mom and healthcare provider. The book clearly explains concepts and asks the questions every adult with influence on adolescents should be considering. We should not shy away from this social discourse- our children’s identities and health depend on it.

In this evocative short piece, Candace worries that her mother, Annie, has reached an emotional breaking point. When her best friend loses her battle with cancer, Annie is acting in uncharacteristic ways, seemingly less concerned than ever about what her friends and neighbors think of her - a troubling development in her daughter’s eyes. But while Candace may think she knows her mother better than anyone, something deeper lingers beneath the surface, and times of hardship have a way of bringing us closer together than ever.

Fantastic glimpse into complicated two worlds life
Revisado: 12-21-21
The reader was very well paced, capturing the cadence of the heartbeat that keeps time. Touches on so many aspects of Rez and non Rez, enrolled and not enrolled NDN peoples’ struggles. Through Firekeeper’s Daughter, I feel very apart of a lived experience that many with a foot in two worlds can feel isolated in. I have eagerly recommended this very personally validating book, many times over.
