Historia
There is a world. One of endless night, surrounded by an even deeper darkness. Filled with nightmares come to life, twisted shapes that slink to windows and ease open doors, sliding across floors to look down on helpless faces. There is another world. A bright world, so bright it burns. Filled with stacked stones that call forth miracles, raised by callused hands that tremble in their work, drained with each stone lifted, settled, lifted again.

What more praise can be given to any of Sanderson’s books?
Revisado: 09-04-24
I’ve been painting my home while listening to this book, a tedious yet fairly simple task that allowed my mind to easily and vividly compose the story while listening as the story unfolded. I still appreciated the audible descriptions of the drawings found in the print copy, which I will have to hunt down. Painting several coats of white primer to walls covered in dark blood red paint, I felt it was kind of funny that I randomly chose this book to listen to as I tried to alter the dark and ominous mood of these walls to a more cheerful and benign feel. It definitely provided a somewhat ironic (though very loosely so) connection to the story… it made me feel more like an artist and less like a wall painter, because art is defined and valued by the beholder, thank you Mr. Sanderson. 😁
I have to admit that I did NOT expect the twist, and that was cool. I really enjoyed this story, it may become my favourite.
Can’t wait to start the next book!

Historia
A man awakens in a clearing in what appears to be medieval England with no memory of who he is, where he came from, or why he is there. Chased by a group from his own time, his sole hope for survival lies in regaining his missing memories, making allies among the locals, and perhaps even trusting in their superstitious boasts. His only help from the “real world” should have been a guidebook entitled The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England, except his copy exploded during transit.

Very Unexpected…
Revisado: 08-23-24
At first, I was very confused and a little disoriented.
The story I was listening to, though immediately capturing my attention and imagination, wasn’t the familiar Sanderson-ish story I had grown to love and, well… you know… expect. If you have read a few of his books, you know what I mean, and by now, I have read quite a few, which is why I am now going through his non- series books.
This is a very different tale, shocking me at times, causing me to check if this was some collaboration with another author, because it was so different.
But different doesn’t necessarily equate with a negative experience, and this story definitely did not in any way disappoint. Different, yes, but every bit a Sanderson tale, as more and more of the story unfolded.
That’s all I’m going to share. I don’t want to spoil or give away any hints to what a fun and delightfully unexpected experience this book holds , I had only read the tittle and nothing else, so I was very pleasantly taken on a ride to an unanticipated world, filled with wonderful characters, Sanderson style.
Narration brilliant, as always.

Historia
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.

Not too keen on the narrator. I forced myself to listen at first because the book was very highly recommended. I am glad I did, despite the narrator, the story captivated me. Beautifully written. Will get the next in series.

Great history book… too bad it missed completely the future it predicted.
Revisado: 06-05-23
Great information regarding the cyclical historical generations and how they behave and manifest on the nation, but reading this into 2020’s I can see how their predictions were quite off in regards to events and how the expected behaviours from the given generations have actually manifested. Would love to be able to read their explanation as to why they were so off in their predictions.

Dalinar Kholin's Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost. Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

Rare beauty; I laughed, I cried, I found myself thinking about how true many of the statements in this novel are dead-on true!
Revisado: 08-09-18
Lovely story that has “politically correct” lightly interweaved in very honest tale about a type of person that is very misunderstood and fast disappearing, to our great loss.
The reader does a great job telling the story, and the author captured me completely, I had a very difficult time pausing this audiobook when duties needed to be attended to.

Probably the best how to be a decent human being &/or parenting book ever written
Revisado: 04-22-18
I will buy a copy for each of my children.
Very thoughtful work, full of facts and truths that we all (mostly) know, but stated in a way that is very frank and very clearly and simply stated, with lots of illustrations, sometimes humorous, sometimes chilling, sometimes painful.
Will listen/read again, probably very soon.

"Marley was dead to begin with...." These chillingly familiar words begin the classic Christmas tale of remorse and redemption in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Now R. William Bennett rewinds the story and focuses the spotlight on Scrooge’s miserly business partner, Jacob T. Marley, who was allowed to return as a ghost to warn Scrooge away from his ill-fated path. Why was Marley allowed to return? And why hadn’t he been given the same chance as Ebenezer Scrooge? Or had he?

ONE OF THE BEST STORIES I HAVE EVER HEARD!!
Revisado: 12-25-17
Listening to this story will be a new addition to my Christmas tradition.
Incredibly well written and keeping the tone and style of the original story, the author has crafted a companion piece that is able to seamlessly travel before, along side and after the original story, but from Marley’s point of view.
Truly a work of art.
The narrator, Simon Vance, was a perfect choice, his skill only added to the experience this story affords.
Not to be missed!!!

Historia
Behind most major political stories in the modern era, there is an agenda - an effort by opposition researchers, spin doctors, and outside interests to destroy an idea or a person. The tactic they use is the Smear. Every day, Americans are influenced by the Smear without knowing it. Paid forces cleverly shape virtually every image you cross. Maybe you read that Donald Trump is a racist misogynist or saw someone on the news mocking the Bernie Sanders campaign. The trick of the Smear is that it is often based on some shred of truth.

If you have teenagers, get them to read or listen to this book!
Revisado: 12-22-17
It is important for any person that is a consumer of digital media to understand the people and powers that influence and shape the content it provides. I don’t think there is any more susceptible media consumer than the youth of today, who have no idea the incredible effort behind each and every media narrative using very sophisticated means to sway and entice the consumer to believe their narrative. I think well written and well researched book can provide a very unbiased and factual example of how this is done. The best thing about this book aside from the content is how easy it is to read and understand, and to check on the examples she used to show how smear campaigns are done and their effect on the society at large.
I hope the author follows up with another book soon.
