Jacob Morgan was great but the female narrator…

The story by itself was good and I always love Jacob Morgan, however this was the first time I had ever heard Scarlette Hayes and I have to say, she ruined the book for me. All of her characters sounded exactly the same including her 6 year old voice! She also narrates in the same unemotional monotone throughout the book. It didn’t matter if the characters were running from a storm or sitting down to dinner they sounded exactly the same. She read the story as if she was bored which in turn made me bored. It was a waste a book credit.

Great performances but the story lacked substance.

I loved Killian where I was first introduced to him in Dangerous Desires, however in this book there is really no plot just the back and forth between Juliet and Killian. Juliet is constantly mean and hateful to Killian so it’s hard to see what he sees in her. I wanted Killian to find someone as sweet and funny as he is, especially since he didn’t get the girl in Dangerous Desires. Juliet is the opposite of that while always questioning him, I get her trust issues but there needs to be something more to his attraction to her than her robbing the bad guys to give to the needy.

I love S.C. Stephens' books, however this one dragged for me until the last 1/4 of the book (which was great!). I think the story could have been told with the same impact in half the time.

Would you try another book from Kimberly Lauren and/or Eva Kantor?
I loved this book when I first read it on my Kindle. I usually like listening my favorite books narrated because I enjoy hearing the characters brought to life. I was so disappointed in the performance of Eva Kantor. Her narrative was fine but when she did the voices of the females (especially Emerson) it was so nasal and whiney. When she did the male voice of Jackson, it was even worse. She made Jackson sound like an 80 year old man instead of a young college guy. I got about a 1/4 into the book and I just couldn't listen anymore.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Eva Kantor?
Amy McFadden or Luci Christian Bell.
