A stark, beautiful, moving collection of essays.
Revisado: 09-02-23
Tony Jensen leaves together beautiful, dark and troubling essays. She explores our culture today, and so many of the things that are wrong with it, but in a loving and humanistic way that doesn’t feel like lecturing, but instead as a deeper wake up call.

Historia
Rose Howard has OCD, Asperger's syndrome, and an obsession with homonyms (even her name is a homonym). She gave her dog Rain a name with two homonyms (Reign, Rein), which, according to Rose's rules of homonyms, is very special. Rain was a lost dog Rose's father brought home. Rose and Rain are practically inseparable. And they are often home alone, as Rose's father spends most evenings at a bar, and doesn't have much patience for his special-needs daughter.

A wonderful- moving middle-reader book!
Revisado: 02-21-23
I read this book because I had heard about it, and it sounded intriguing. It was moving, wonderful story, which put me inside the world of a highly functioning autistic fifth grader. I’m so glad I read it. It was definitely worth a read!

Historia
For some kids summer is a sun-soaked season of fun. But for Steve it's just another season of worries. Worries about his sick newborn baby brother, who is fighting to survive; worries about his parents, who are struggling to cope; even worries about the wasp's nest looming ominously from the eaves. So when a mysterious wasp queen invades his dreams, offering to "fix" the baby, Steve thinks his prayers have been answered.

Oooo! What a good, just creepy enough story!
Revisado: 02-01-23
I got assigned to read this story for school, and bought the audible version. I immediately got caught up in the wonderful narrative. Super creepy, super fun, good ending, I am excited to hear more of this author’s work.

Historia
Fiver could sense danger. Something terrible was going to happen to the warren; he felt sure of it. They had to leave immediately. So begins a long and perilous journey of survival for a small band of rabbits. As the rabbits skirt danger at every turn, we become acquainted with the band, its humorous characters, and its compelling culture, complete with its own folk history and mythos. Fiver’s vision finally leads them to Watership Down, an upland meadow. But here they face their most difficult challenges of all.

One of my ultimate favorites
Revisado: 02-03-22
Sometimes, when I go into Library I wish that all the very best books that I could truly love would call out to me. It’s so hard to find a really good book that you want to read again and again. Watership down is one such book.
I have read this book many many times over the years and each time I read it, it is still as delightful as the first time I read it. It has engaging, believable characters which draw you in and become old friends. You go on an epic journey, together with them, of satisfying length and clever and engaging adventure. Give this wonderful book a try. It will become one of your favorites.

In Washington: A Life celebrated biographer Ron Chernow provides a richly nuanced portrait of the father of our nation. This crisply paced narrative carries the reader through his troubled boyhood, his precocious feats in the French and Indian War, his creation of Mount Vernon, his heroic exploits with the Continental Army, his presiding over the Constitutional Convention, and his magnificent performance as America's first president.

Wonderful full account of his remarkable life & personality
Revisado: 08-13-19
My history professor recommended this book for a correct and inspiring account of the life of this great, complex, not-perfect but oh so amazing man: George Washington. I thoroughly enjoyed it from the start to the last. I’ve wanted to know the details unvarnished from his life and this book delivered, while still leaving him with his honored reputation in tact. A great biography about a truly great man.
