Historia
Max Troika never thought he’d be the alpha of his pack. That was his older brother’s fate. Assassinations have a way of ruining everything. Including who Max can take as a mate. It sure isn’t the cute and curvy librarian inspiring his dirtiest dream every night. Galyna Shirvan has it bad for a guy she never thought a chubby librarian like her could ever win over. Now he’s got all the hots for her, too.

worst narration ever
Revisado: 03-24-23
The cadence and sing-song narration is horrible. It’s almost as if the narrators didn’t understand what they were saying. They both accented the wrong words and it took a lot of mental energy to counteract it and even figure out what was happening.

Historia
Maggie Patel has landed her dream job at The New York Spectator; or, it would be, if she could get a decent story assignment. When a career-making interview finally lands on her desk, it’s with the last person she’d ever want to see again — Edward, the Crown Prince of Bairmorne...and her long-ago friend.

challenging to listen
Revisado: 03-13-23
Not my favorite. I had a really hard time getting past the frequent musical interludes that definitely were taken from the original Saved By the Bell series. I’m a Shane fan, but the story was so short, we didn’t really get an in-depth understanding of any of the characters. Not a bad listen, just not great.

disappointing

I’ve liked the series but these narrators were rubbish, zero sexiness. I don’t think I’ll spend any more credits in Goodwins

Fascinating and thought-provoking
Revisado: 03-09-23
I love the framing Jared uses—why did Eurasians conquer the land of the peoples of the Americas, and not vice versa? This imaginative inquiry 🧐 and the focus on multidisciplinary data makes a great case for history to be considered less of a social science, and more on par with astronomy 🔭 and other historical sciences.
Narration is a drag; now that I’ve listened to it a few times, it’s an excellent narration to help me fall asleep at night.

loved it a couple decades ago, but it hasn’t aged well
Revisado: 02-16-23
great story, good narration. but I’m only now realizing how much verbal, emotional and physical abuse are treated as romantic instead of violent. several instances of the hero forcing the heroine’s body without consent. again? the actions are taken for signs of love and devotion. no wonder a generation of us married and destroyed our lives with stories like these. her new series as JD Robb are much better

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

Historia
Beginning with a look at Christopher Columbus’s arrival through the eyes of the Arawak Indians, then leading the reader through the struggles for workers’ rights, women’s rights, and civil rights during the 19th and 20th centuries, and ending with the current protests against continued American imperialism, Zinn in the volumes of A Young People’s History of the United States presents a radical new way of understanding America’s history. In so doing, he reminds listeners that America’s true greatness is shaped by our dissident voices, not our military generals.

used terms “Blacks” and “slaves” to refer to people that were enslaved
Revisado: 08-17-22
I know this is 6 years old, but I can’t imagine sharing this with my kiddos because of the oppressive language used to describe people that were enslaved. Each time I hear the terms, it’s like someone keeps scratching their nails down a chalkboard.
Even though I desperately want my kiddos to have access to this view of history, the use of the terms that white supremacists used erases the humanity and agency of people that were enslaved. I don’t want my kids to be acclimated to those terms.
Finally, of course tweens aren’t interested in hearing an adult lecturing at them—whether about history or anything else. Please consider issuing a revised infotainment-style audio version with less oppressive language and with a tween-aged narrator.

Amazing for ages 7+ and an overall amazing book which, if your’e talking about a Roald dhal book is not surprising at all for me
Revisado: 12-26-21
Performance: 5 stars amazing audio and I think can be good for sleeping sometimes, but I would rate it more a 4 1/2 though
Story: i completely say 5 stars I love the roald dhal books because he is such a good writer including informal life lessons, and having some funny bits too!
Overall: this book is about a interesting little girl who is extremely intelligent but has very rude, ignorant, and unintelligent but her teacher miss honey is very kind to her and her classmates in the bottom class in crunchemhall school, the principal however, is about as nice as angry rhinoceros, and used to be in the Olympics, but Matilda has…
Inteligentes and…
MAGIC! On her side

Earth and its society have been changed irrevocably in the aftermath of Ender Wiggin's victory over the Formics. The unity forced upon the warring nations by an alien enemy has shattered. Nations are rising again, seeking territory and influence, and most of all, seeking to control the skills and loyalty of the children from the Battle School. But one person has a better idea. Peter Wiggin, Ender's older, more ruthless, brother, sees that any hope for the future of Earth lies in restoring a sense of unity and purpose. And he has an irresistible call on the loyalty of Earth's young warriors.

good story
Revisado: 11-25-20
I’ve internalized the Ender’s Game quartet for over 20 years, so I was excited when Bean’s parallel stories came out. The narration is always good, not sure how Stefan didn’t notice that Gabrielle was pronouncing Achilles’ name wrong throughout the whole story. Each time she said it wrong, I cringed. So I guess my cringing muscles have been well exercised. But I’ve listened to the entire Shadow saga over a dozen times, so I’m sure I’ll be back again in a few months.
