Historia
When two childhood best friends blow up their respective romantic relationships, they make a time-sensitive pact: serial-cheater Chuck cannot sleep with anyone as she attends a three-month-long recovery group for cheaters, while sex-deprived Sofia vows to hook up with as many people as possible before recommitting to monogamy and tying the knot with her long-time fiancé. To keep things interesting, Chuck and Sofia decide to revive a past tradition from their summer camp days—also known as the dawning of sluthood.

I loved it
Revisado: 12-03-24
I was just looking for something fun to play in the background while I was working on a project and I ended up getting sucked into the story. I became fully invested in Chuck and Sofia’s relationship and was rooting for their successes. I don’t want to give anything away, so I won’t summarize. I’ll just reiterate that I loved it and I absolutely adore Amy Sedaris, so she was the icing on this delicious cake of a book. 10/10!

Historia
My dog once took a bullet that was intended for me. A bullet that ripped through his chest, narrowly missing his heart, and exited through his shoulder blade. This left him unconscious on the floor of my home. Amazingly, this bullet did not kill him. Ten years ago, I adopted Blue after I broke up with my boyfriend one hot, early summer night with the windows open and the neighborhood listening. The next morning I went straight to the pound in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Articles on buying your first dog tell you never to buy a dog on impulse.

Awful
Revisado: 06-17-24
No one is this stupid unless they’re having delusions of grandeur. Sydney is reckless and toxic and possibly an alcoholic (or at least has a problematic relationship with alcohol) who walks dogs but doesn’t necessarily like dogs and certainly doesn’t show any real affection for them at all.
I am a strongly empathetic reader and usually vibe with the protagonists of well-written books (even when they are fallible or are emotionally immature or stunted) and even the antagonists, but I could not connect at all with Sydney. Twenty-five chapters in (slept through most of them), and I just can’t do it anymore. The book is awful.
I received the 1-3 book set for free through Audible, so I won’t return it because I don’t want to hurt the author. While I don’t care for her writing as it currently is, I do wish her growth and success. Her stories do have potential. She needs a better editor and possibly some mentoring.
I was taken in by her Facebook ads, but the books were nowhere near as good as she implied. I really wanted to like the series because I absolutely love stories with strong, intelligent female protagonists. Sydney is not strong and intelligent, though; she’s ridiculous and makes ridiculous, unrealistic decisions, and she just isn’t written well.
The story reads like a YA novel written by a young adult or teenager, complete with the reckless immaturity some of us may have experienced in our tweens or teens, yet Sydney is supposed to be a grown woman. The math ain’t mathing.
I really wanted to love it, but I can’t even finish it to see if it gets better. I’m so sorry.

Terrible

Just awful. It’s not even worth the effort to explain why it’s pure garbage. Trust.

Historia
Eithnie is a young painter who is acclaimed by the art world, until the critics start noticing that her work has lost the animating passion that had set her apart from the crowd. She returns to her cabin in Canada’s remote woods, hoping to find a place where she can seek solitude and focus on her art. At first, Eithnie’s muse remains elusive, but then, beautiful and disturbing creatures start slipping into her sketches unbidden.

Love de Lint; narration needs a tweak
Revisado: 06-03-23
I love everything I’ve read by Charles de Lint. This is my first time listening to one of his books instead of reading it myself. I’m not finished with it yet, but it’s worth mentioning that in chapter three, “saguaro” should be pronounced “swarro” and “cholla” should be pronounced “choya”. It’s hard to be an Arizonan and hear them mispronounced. (That’s my only gripe.)

Beautiful
Revisado: 04-13-23
All I can do is recommend. I just finished it and am emotionally exhausted and I need some time to digest and get past my book hangover. I love reading books that move me, and this one certainly did that. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone who can read (and understand adult situations).
